Reece James (Right wingback): 8/10

Attacks down the left-hand side and crosses from the opposite flank left James pinned in his half for much of the match. The Englishman defended well, winning several headers in his own box with Fulham attackers lurking. Meanwhile, he used his physicality and pace to deal with threats outside the penalty area. However, barring some early phases of play, he rarely got the opportunity to contribute higher up the pitch.

Billy Gilmour (Central midfielder): 7.5/10

Gilmour was the surprise pick in the middle of the park as Tuchel decided to rest some key players for the midweek fixture against Real Madrid. The youngster ran into some difficulties early on due to Fulham’s high press. However, he grew into the game as it progressed. Gilmour’s put in a safe performance, helping his team keep hold of the ball and maintaining shape when out of possession. Consequently, those who were hoping to see a more exciting display, similar to the one he had against Liverpool last season, would’ve been disappointed.

Mason Mount (Central midfielder): 8.5/10

Tuchel decided to rest Jorginho and N’Golo Kante for the match against Fulham. Mount, however, did not enjoy that privilege and was instead picked to start as a central midfielder. The England international occupied positions slightly ahead of his midfield partner Gilmour in a staggered double-pivot. He produced another fantastic all-around performance to add his ever-growing tally and even provided the assist for the opening goal. His incredible touch to bring the ball down left two Fulham defenders stranded, while the weight on the subsequent pass to Havertz was perfect.

Ben Chilwell (Left wingback): 7.5/10

Chilwell found much more joy down the left-wing than his equivalent on the opposite side. The Englishman did not supply an assist but he did play a crucial role in Chelsea’s second goal. His pinpoint long pass found Havertz on the run before the German combined with his compatriot Werner to put his team two goals ahead. The left wingback had little to do defensively but was alert when called upon.

N’Golo Kante (Central midfielder; sub): 6.5/10

Kante’s performance midweek against Real Madrid was a timely reminder of his talent. However, the Frenchman failed to replicate those levels when brought on to replace Hakim Ziyech shortly after the hour mark.

Marcos Alonso (Left wingback; sub): N/A

Brought on as a substitute for Chilwell late on in the match, Alonso barely touched the ball. The Spaniard has lost his place in the starting XI recently and would be happy to have gotten some minutes under his belt.
