Chelsea travels to the blue side of Manchester to take on Pep Guardiola’s Man City in a decisive Premier League contest. If the Citizens get all three points, they will capture their third domestic title in four years. Meanwhile, neither will want to tip their hand too much as an all-important Champions League title pits there two sides against one another again on May 29. The home side isn’t the only one with something to play for though. The Blues are still in the thick of the top four race and a win at The Etihad would take them third.

Here is how The Pride of London team sees the match playing out:

Barrett Rouen: 1-2 Chelsea

I don’t predict losses. I do think though that it will be hard to take three of three from City with Thomas Tuchel this season, so truthfully, if we lose this one but get the better of them in the final, I’ll be ok with that.

More from Premier League

Kevin Peacock: 1-1 Draw

Tricky one this. City may not have mathematically won the title, but it will regardless of this game. That plays into Chelsea’s favour, who is fighting for top four, it will get it. On the other hand, these two have a much bigger game further down the line, neither will want to give much away to the other. The classic big six scoreline/draw is the result.

Scott Brant: 1-0 Manchester City

I am begging to be wrong, but I just feel the lighter colored Blues will be raring and ready to go. Guardiola will be hoping to tie the league up this weekend and focus on the Champions League. Our Blues might still be excited about making it to the final.

Anthony Gatt: 1-1 Draw

City has already won this league realistically, so it is only playing for bragging rights and pride, but for Chelsea, the race for top four is still on. The Blues will need to be on their A game in order to reach that goal. Two evenly matched sides will meet Saturday afternoon and when the dust settles, I believe a stalemate will be the result, which will be a great appetizer for the final in Istanbul.

Michael DeVito: 0-2 Chelsea

Chelsea under TT has overtaken City. The Blues’ attackers are superior (unless Sergio Aguero is in there). But even so, Chelsea’s smothering defense will hold he and Kevin De Bruyne as Edouard Mendy will clean up any residue. This is a prelude to the UCL final—portray dominance. Chelsea is better. Chelsea wins! Christian Pulisic scores the brace.

Mike Malley: 0-0 Draw

This will be a familiar fixture for Chelsea over the next couple of weeks, so the team will need to get comfortable playing against the presumptive Premier League champions. The Blues were able to best City last time out in the FA Cup semifinal, so Tuchel and his men will be confident going into the match, but the fatigue of both sides will be at an all-time high considering their midweek Champions League fixtures. This meeting has snooze-fest written all over it.

Olly Smith: 2-1 Manchester City

Hard to stop Guardiola’s team at the best of times, but unlike the FA Cup semifinal, Guardiola will field his strongest side with the knowledge that it can put its hands on the Premier League trophy with a victory. Chelsea will defend well, but will get caught out by some KDB brilliance, the Belgian always ups his game against his former employers. Kai Havertz to score for the Blues.

Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 1-1 Draw

Chelsea deserves to be in the position it is in at the moment. While there’s excitement at the prospect of winning the Champions league this season, the Blues should make sure that they secure Champions League football through the league, as it’s much too risky to try qualifying through winning the competition. Chelsea has lost and won to City this season and so the Blues know they have both performances in them, Tuchel will be tasked with bringing out the right one.

Nate Hofmann: 0-0 Draw

Even though these teams played each other just a few weeks ago, this is destined to be a “feeling one another out” match. Neither side is particularly desperate to get a result, especially with Leicester City losing to Newcastle, so the intensity might just not be there, or it’ll be dedicated to defending. Everyone knows the real fireworks will be saved for three weeks from now. Plan on a match alternating between dull and cagey.

Tan Yi Hao: 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea’s record at the Etihad since Antonio Conte’s 3-1 comeback victory in the 16/17 season has been nothing short of abysmal. Drubbings have been frequent and Tuchel’s side enter this fixture knowing that a win for City here would see ut lift the Premier League title for the third time in the last four seasons.

Jake Brigstock: 0-0 Draw

This could well be another very tight game where no one will want to show their full hand until May 29. There’s a lot more riding on this for Chelsea, especially with Leicester losing at home to Newcastle last night, so I think we’ll end up being the team more likely to get at opponents in the latter stages and giving it a go. You can’t discount City’s quality though. Guardiola will want revenge on Tuchel for the FA Cup, but here I can see him try to work out Tuchel ahead of the biggest game in club football. Although it won’t be a classic today, it could set the stage for a thriller in three weeks’ time.

Abhishek Pancholi: 0-2 Chelsea

A scoreline that is likely to be repeated in the big game a few weeks from now.

Varun Dani: 0-1 Chelsea

A carbon copy of the FA Cup semifinal, except that Guardiola will use this match to experiment with his tactics for the CL final while Tuchel will push for that top four finish.

Gabe Henderson: 1-0 Manchester City

The winner of this match loses the Champions League final. Man City’s quality will shine through on a day the Citizens can win the Premier League title. Neither side shows too much of their hands ahead of the biggest club match of the season in a few weeks’ time.
