Chelsea and Manchester City combined XI: A Blue moon
Right winger: Riyad Mahrez, Manchester City
Riyad Mahrez has been part of Guardiola’s notorious rotation roulette at Manchester City. He has been in and out of the team but has managed to feature 25 times (21 starts) in the Premier League this season. In these games, Mahrez has scored nine times and he has assisted four times. He has also created seven big chances and has been consistent whenever he has played. The Algerian has scored some crucial goals, as well as scoring both goals against PSG.
Center forward: Timo Werner, Chelsea
This might look a little surprising to a lot of fans. Timo Werner has been subject to a lot of mockery and slander from fans throughout the season, and yet, Werner’s statistics speak for themselves. It is essential to recognise that both Manchester City and Chelsea have shuffled their front lines regularly and have often played without a traditional center forward. This is why Werner needs to be part of this line-up. The German has scored six goals this season while assisting another seven. He has also created nine big chances, which is more than most of the forwards at Manchester City and Chelsea. Despite his finishing woes, Werner has been influential for Chelsea, and we can hope that things only get better and better for the German.
Left winger: Raheem Sterling, Manchester City
Raheem Sterling has quietly been having a great season. He has scored nine goals and assisted six goals this campaign. Most of the forwards at Chelsea have been inconsistent this year. While Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic have played some brilliant football over the past few weeks, Sterling gets into this combined XI due to his consistency. While he has missed several big chances (12) like Werner (17), he has also created a good number of chances (8) and has been influential for Manchester City.
