Hakim Ziyech (No. 22) Right attacking midfielder, Morocco

Hakim Ziyech started slowly against Man City, but came into the game later on. He eventually scored the goal that levelled the score, giving the Blues hope of coming back, which they did. Mount may be rested for the FA Cup final this Saturday. This would likely give Ziyech a chance to continue this goal scoring form, while resting Mount for games ahead, as he has played quite a lot of matches lately.

Timo Werner (No. 11) Center forward, Germany

Werner leads the Blues in direct goal involvements this season and some have tried to dilute that fact. The point is that Chelsea doesn’t create nearly as many opportunities as it should, though that is improving now. Werner has showed that he can contribute to the team in more ways than just goals. He’s created the second most big chances in the Premier League and the Champions League. Yes, he does miss a lot of chances, but funny as it may sound, that doesn’t take anything away from his being a superb striker. No? Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku have missed 21, 19 and 17 big chances this season. Werner has missed 18. If they score a lot of goals, it’s because they get more opportunities to score.

Christian Pulisic (No. 10) Left attacking midfielder, United States

Christian Pulisic deserves to start this game in all fairness to him. He was superb against Real Madrid in the first leg and in the second leg, despite coming on as a sub in the latter. He wasn’t great against Manchester City, but he did his bit. His comments are more from frustration and it’s understandable, but a downside to having a squad with so many talented attackers is that, while it would get increasingly difficult to justify leaving some players out, they’d still have to be left out anyway because the manager can only select so many players.
