Chelsea welcomes Leicester City to its home away from home in London on Saturday. The iconic Wembley Stadium will play host to the 140th FA Cup final, the first meeting between these two historic clubs in the decisive match. Despite it being the first time these two sides clash in the cup final, they are very familiar with one another. The Blues and Foxes met in last year’s FA Cup during the former’s run to the final and numerous players have sported the badge of both clubs.

Unfortunately for Chelsea supporters, it seems as if Leicester is one of the Blues’ bogey teams. The west Londoners have earned just one victory over the Foxes in their last six meetings. Thomas Tuchel has yet to square off with Brendan Rodgers and his team yet though. The Blues’ German gaffer will look to buck the trend of recent results with silverware on the line. A positive result on Saturday could also give Chelsea a boost ahead of the clubs’ clash on Tuesday in the Premier League.

On the injury front, both sides have been given pieces of good news ahead of the final. Tuchel confirmed he’s got his entire side available for selection. Mateo Kovacic has been out since before the Blues’ Champions League semifinal tie with Real Madrid, Andreas Christensen exited before halftime last week against Manchester City and N’Golo Kante was kept out versus Arsenal. All three seem fit—Kante will even start—but it’s unlikely we’ll see Kovacic or Christensen in the starting XI. For Leicester, defender Jonny Evans looks set to return after missing the Foxes’ win against Manchester United. Rodgers has a plethora of solid defensive reinforcements, but Evans has been especially key to his side’s run at a Champions League place.

Chelsea will be looking to avenge its loss in last year’s FA Cup final and avoid a reputation as perpetual runners up. The Blues have made the final in four of the last five seasons, but have ended up with silver medals on two occasions. Chelsea will be striving to win its ninth FA Cup trophy, the last of which came in 2018. Meanwhile, Leicester is aiming for its first win in this competition. The Foxes have been runners up four times (1949, 1961, 1963 and 1969). Neither manager has lifted the cup either. That is no surprise considering this is Tuchel’s first season in England, but Rodgers has managed Watford, Reading, Swansea, Liverpool and Leicester, so it’s more shocking he’s never gotten his hands on the silverware.
