Chelsea at Aston Villa score predictions: Championship Sunday victory
Chelsea travels to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa in the final match of the season. The Blues head into Championship Sunday will all to play for in the league, with the top four race coming down to the wire. For Thomas Tuchel’s men, the task is simple: win and they’re in. However, if they drop points, they will need some help from either Crystal Palace or Tottenham. Chelsea currently sits third in the league and a win keeps it there. Fourth and fifth placed Liverpool and Leicester City trail the Blues by just one point, so there is virtually no room for error. The Villains are coming off a come from behind win at Tottenham, so expect them to be in fine form. There was nothing to separate these two sides back in December, will there be a clear winner on Sunday?
Here is how The Pride of London team sees the match playing out:
Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 1-2 Chelsea
It’s the final game of the season, it’s going to be difficult regardless of who we play. A comfortable win in this game may determine where the players will be mentally come the 29th of May.
Kevin Peacock: 0-2 Chelsea
Chances are it will be unpleasant afternoon of watching. However, Chelsea will come through grabbing a Champions League spot for next season. Personally, I’m desparately hoping that Timo Werner comes through with both goals, his post-match interviews are quality. With European football at the top table guaranteed, the team will be able to relax and prepare well ahead of the big final game of the season next Saturday.
Michael DeVito: 0-3 Chelsea
It’s time, time to break out a bit and finish top four with a nice goal display. Looking to Christian Pulisic big in this one. Also Werner, who will outfox the “goal-line ghost” for once in this one and stay onside! A fitting, likely end to his fabulous Chelsea career for a personal favorite, Olivier Giroud, would be to pot the third. Edouard Mendy once again is key and hopefully, a big win here will get the Blues back to where they were—before the manager-inspired Arsenal and Leicester disasters—to win the UCL.
Gabe Henderson: 0-2 Chelsea
The Blues will come out with the same intensity they did against the Foxes on Tuesday. Much like the game against Wolves in matchweek 38 last season, the young side knows it has no room for error and will defend with concentration. Goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell.
Scott Brant: 0-2 Chelsea
Yesssssss!!! John Terry runs onto the pitch to take out a Villa player in on goal early in the match to keep the Blues in control. We net two and qualify for Champions League. Werner to score a brace.
