The players that Chelsea should add in the midfield are Eduardo Camavinga or Ryan Gravenberch and, to get either deal over the line, they should add a one year loan back to the deal. Both players represent the sort of physically dominant six that Tuchel prefers while also being able to create from deep. This is something that will also benefit Timo Werner in the future as he didn’t have anyone creating the sort of through ball feast that he fed on at Leipzig and that Fabregas used to create for Costa.

Chelsea is likely to let Tammy Abraham leave this summer which feels like a mistake but it could also be one that they benefit from. A deal for Declan Rice to add to the midfield could be interesting and would be the addition to make for the upcoming season while we continue to supplement Kante respectfully. A deal in which Tammy Abraham is exchanged with a 50 mil buyback clause that comes into effect in two or three seasons (structured similarly to how Spurs did with Real Madrid Sergio Reguilion) and then add in a two year loan for Billy Gilmour to West Ham and an additional 40 million and that might just be enough to make it happen. Both Abraham and Gilmour simply need to improve with game time but belong in Blue long term. West Ham will have trouble turning down two additional players and 50 million with the potential for it to be 100 in two or three years’ time.

The Blues should also make a straightforward deal for Romelu Lukaku. I prefer Lukaku to Erling Haaland. Chelsea don’t need Mino Raiola spoiling the situation that they are building at the club with the sort of nonsense he likes to create in order to earn higher fees. He’s a wonderful agent but he creates the sort of circus that makes focusing on football difficult. Lukaku represents a proven powerful striker who wants to come back to Chelsea. His goal scoring record and physicality would add another dimension to the side that could benefit everyone. He has even proven just how magnificently intelligent of a striker he is in his strike relationship with Lautaro Martinez. He could do the same with Werner. A classic big-little strike force that could simply pound other Premier League sides into submission next season.

He’s a Chelsea supporter and there’s still something in it to prove for him. Chelsea’s squad is also already very young and needs experience. You cannot have too many young players in the side. Balance is necessary and Lukaku represents a perfect move for the club given Inter’s financial situation.

The other player I would add is Jadon Sancho. This is something of a super deal and Chelsea should see what they can do to drive the price down. This might be the sort of deal that sending Guehi or another player on loan or with a buyback clause similar to the Abraham deal could fix. It will need to be creative but Chelsea could use another talent at this level and he’s going to come to the Premier League this summer. Chelsea should make sure that he adds his ridiculous goal and assist output to their side and not anybody else.

Finally, either Benoit Badiashile or Sven Botman should be added as well. They are the two best young left footed center backs right now. I have trouble deciding between either but regardless of how well Rudiger has handled the role a left-footed player would add a level of smooth transitioning to Chelsea’s play that could be hugely beneficial. Rudiger could then be moved to the right where he was most comfortable at Roma and where his skills could flourish even more so. Badiashile would be a good opportunity for Chelsea to do the one year loan back and then just add him in future. Botman is going to leave this year and was a colossus in Lille’s Ligue 1 Championship winning campaign.

Ligue 1 is in too dire of a financial situation to not be taken advantage of this season. Another player I would make overtures for with a structured deals to keep them there for another two or three seasons would be Rayan Cherki. He may just be the next Eden Hazard but he needs to stay in Lyon a few more years. He’s too young to move countries but if Chelsea assured themselves of his future it would be worth the expense up front this year.
