Three Ligue 1 midfielders Chelsea should look to sign this summer
By Anthony Gatt
Renato Sanches, 23 years old, Lille
This one might be a bit controversial due to his first spell in the Premier League but that was under totally different circumstances than what it would be today. In 2016 was viewed as the next big thing with his performances at the Euro 2016 but also getting his big move to Bayern Munich.
Five years later and his stock might have dropped, but he has really remade himself at Lille and has recaptured his form. We all know about his less than favorable loan move to Swansea in 2017 but several injuries and a team in turmoil didn’t let him show his real quality.
Fast forward four years later and he has become one the best midfielders in the Ligue 1. He just recently won the Ligue 1 with Lille and when he played and these past Euros he was great. So all these things should be enough to tempt the Blues right?
Well the will face competition from Liverpool and his fee will be much more than Aouar and with Chelsea trying to finance their biggest transfer ever they must pick and choose who they sign also and what price is suitable. But Renato Sanches would a huge complement to Kante and Jorginho cause of ability to drive the ball forward but also provide support to his partner in the midfield and the defense behind him.
