Kai Havertz (No. 29) Right center forward

Kai Havertz has shown his ability to finish, as have many other players. Whether he can finish consistently enough for Chelsea to forget about the purchase of a new striker is yet to be seen. Last season showed that it’s only in specific circumstances that Havertz would be effective at the center forward role. Havertz’s strengths are needed in the squad though. His ability to occupy space in the final third and his composure on the ball in high pressure situations will be useful for Chelsea going forward.

Hakim Ziyech (No. 22) Central attacking midfielder/free forward role

Hakim Ziyech has been superb during preseason and this is encouraging to many fans for obvious reasons. He had that chance where he did absolutely everything right but complicated a simple finish at Arsenal. Better miss that in preseason rather than during the season. Ziyech has had a rough first season at Chelsea as it was plagued with injuries. Many will hope they see more of the Ziyech they saw in the 2018/19 season, who is borderline world class on his day.

Timo Werner (No. 11) Left center forward

Chelsea players might as well start learning how to play and create more chances for Werner. Werner also had better start trying many finishing techniques and decide what the most effective one is. Werner scored 21 league goals in his first full Bundesliga season. He scored 28 league goals in his most recent Bundesliga season. His debut campaign in the Premier League has completely changed people’s perception of him. He’s now seen as the perpetual waster of clear cut chances. To everyone, Werner’s profligacy has led Chelsea into the market for another striker, one season after getting him. It’s not entirely untrue, but it’s not as clear cut either.

Next. Better late than never for Chelsea to get serious this window. dark
