2. Chelsea is going to be a title contender

In a summer where the top premier league teams have all strengthened across the board, this season could yet give rise to one of the closest Premier League races to date. Manchester City are going to be as strong as ever, especially if Harry Kane does end up moving there as well. Manchester United have recruited well with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, and opened the season with a massive 5-1 win over arch-rivals Leeds United. Liverpool may not have done much business this window but Klopp finally has a full strength squad to choose from and at their best they are more than a match for even the best teams in the country.

With all this said, it was incredibly important for Chelsea to start off on the right foot against Palace and the level at which the Blues performed was vindictive of their status as the reigning champions of Europe. Patient in the build up and confident in their abilities to break down highly defensive teams, it is scary to think just how good Chelsea would be with Lukaku’s impending introduction into the team. With so much quality consistently available off the bench as well, Chelsea are very well placed indeed to put together a more than competent run for the title. This season could yet prove to be a special one but as of now, the Premier League is back with a bang and there is nothing more enjoyable than that and a 3-0 victory on opening day to go along with it.
