3. The title race is wide open

The final whistle at Anfield gave confirmation that just three game weeks into the new Premier League season, the top four favorites for the title have now all dropped points. With Manchester United having brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester City claiming their second 5-0 win in a row and Liverpool clearly demonstrating that they are not to be underestimated as well, this season is shaping up to have one of the tightest races for the Premier League title for quite some time.

Nonetheless, with the first international break coming up shortly, Thomas Tuchel must be quietly impressed with how his team has started off the season in spite of Saturday’s disappointing draw with Liverpool. Chelsea have looked fit and sharp right off the bat and Romelu Lukaku has added a much needed presence up top. More impressively perhaps, would have been the variety of goal scorers in the league so far this season with Kai Havertz becoming the 7th unique player to have found the net this season with his superb goal against Liverpool.

With so much strength in depth and so many positives to draw from the Liverpool game, Chelsea will undoubtedly be up there as one of the strongest contenders for the title. Thomas Tuchel promised that the Blues will be on the hunt for the title from day one, and as things stand, the German has once again more than kept his word. This Chelsea team is certainly destined for great things ahead and Saturday’s minor setback against Liverpool should not deviate our attention from that simple fact.
