Chelsea travels up to the northern half of the country for the first time all season. The Blues have a date with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in what looks to be one of the league’s best early season contests. The two sides sit second and third in the league respectively ahead of kickoff. From Romelu Lukaku versus Virgil van Dijk to Thomas Tuchel against Klopp, the headlines leading up to this clash are endless. This is what the Premier League is all about and given the attacking style of play for both clubs, this is one for the neutrals, as well. The visitors look to continue their run of clean sheets when they look to continue their perfect domestic run thus far, but can they do it?

Here is The Pride of London team’s score predictions:

Akshat Mehrish: 0-1 Chelsea

There are difficult match-ups all over the pitch, but the Blues should take motivation from the fact that they beat Liverpool by the same scoreline in the reverse fixture last season. A raucous Anfield will have its effect on Chelsea, sure, but it’ll do enough to come away with a narrow win.

More from Premier League

Barrett Rouen: 0-2 Chelsea

This will be a close one, but I think Tuchel will play Timo Werner and Lukaku together and that will shock Liverpool. Other than that, a disciplined and mature performance for sure from a mainly experienced side.

Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 0-1 Chelsea

The Blues will hold their own against Liverpool. Tuchel has instilled a sense of discipline and calmness in this team and we can expect to see that in the more high profile games as well. The much hyped Lukaku-van Dijk battle will probably be only about two or three moments in the game. Chelsea is not only getting the results so far, but has been as dominant as it’s wanted. Hakim Ziyech to score.

Leighton September: 1-2 Chelsea

This will be a really fascinating matchup between two top clubs with a packed Anfield. Something to watch is the starting line-up for both sides, which will pretty much indicate the strongest starting XI from both teams because there’s no injuries for either team. Reece James and Ben Chilwell at wingback for the Blues, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson for Liverpool. There’s also Lukaku up against van Dijk—plenty to look forward to. I see Chelsea just edging out the Reds.

Olly Smith: 0-1 Chelsea

This is going to be a cracker. Liverpool back with VVD and Chelsea with Lukaku. Two composed, possession-based teams, stingy defences, a slugfest in midfield and two of the best tactical managers in the Premier League. I can’t see goals in this one, and really it could go either way. If Tuchel plays Werner to stretch the Liverpool back line (like he did so effectively last season) the Reds could be in trouble. Similarly, the interplay of Kai Havertz and Mason Mount has really developed and without Georginio Wijnaldum, can Liverpool cope? It’s just tantalizing battles one after the next, all over the park. For the love of all that is holy, Chilwell has got to come in for Marcos Alonso. Havertz scores the winner.

Varun Dani: 0-1 Chelsea

The obvious battle to look out for will be van Dijk vs. Lukaku, but the key to this game will be Werner.  Liverpool’s high line struggled to contain Werner’s runs both times the two teams met last season. Unfortunately, the Blues weren’t clinical with their passing or finishing to fully utilise his threat. With Lukaku in the fray, both those aspects of the game should improve as the Belgian is not only clinical, but will also help the Blues immensely in the build-up of play. The team is also close to being a complete unit now and that will show in a very effective, methodological display.

Kevin Peacock: 1-3 Chelsea

I want to say 1-1, but I think Chelsea is fired up and the arrival of Lukaku could be the difference between the two sides. There’s no doubt this will be a tough game, but Tuchel has adapted to Premier League football well. With Klopp and his staff  ‘giving it the big un,’ Tuchel and his team will quietly be dismantling Liverpool.

Abhishek Pancholi: 0-2 Chelsea

Lukaku will settle the debate about whether any defender in the league can handle him with a goal in each half.

Anthony Gatt: 2-2 Draw

Both teams have started the season just as we expected with some dominant performances, so with that being said, I believe this will be an evenly matched affair from start to finish. It could go either way with each team having a chance to take three points. But both squads are at even strength, I believe an exciting match for neutrals is in store, finishing Liverpool 2-2 Chelsea.

Nate Hofmann: 1-1 Draw

These two teams are dead even so far this season, so a draw seems pretty logical. Chelsea arguably has the most impressive result with its easy domination of Arsenal last weekend, but Anfield is Anfield. I think that home advantage will cancel out whatever marginal advantages the Blues might have. Relatively acceptable stalemate.

Hugo Amaya: 0-1 Chelsea

An organized game for Chelsea with solid performances all around. Tuchel knows that Liverpool plays at it’s best with Chelsea. Therefore, going for a high scoring affair is not an option. This will be a defensive performance, but one worth the praise. A goal on the counter attack by Lukaku before the half will be enough to award the Blues all three points.

Mike Malley: 2-2 Draw

This will be Chelsea’s first real test of the young season after dispatching of Crystal Palace and Arsenal easily in the first two matches. Liverpool was extremely impressive in its first two matches, as well, making this contest a real six-pointer for the Premier League title. While both of these sides are known for there defensive prowess, I just get the feeling that fans will be treated to a lot of goals. Expect braces for Lukaku and Salah.

Gabe Henderson: 1-2 Chelsea

The Red manage to put one in the back of Edouard Mendy’s net, becoming the first team to do so all season, but it doesn’t matter as the firepower of Werner and Lukaku together see the Blues one-up their hosts.
