Chelsea predicted XI against Aston Villa: 3-4-1-2 to return from break
This weekend, the mighty Chelsea takes on the Claret and Blue of Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. The Blues head into this weekend’s match having only conceded one goal from their opening three games and a Villa team which has conceded four goals from their opening three games. Thomas Tuchel has been consistent when picking his back four including goalkeeper and has the opportunity to mix things around in the attacking area due to the abundance of attacking talents Chelsea have. So, let’s take a look at how the Blues might line-up this weekend.
Edouard Mendy, Keeper, No. 16, Senegal
A consistent starter in goal Edo Mendy. Two clean sheets from three games he had an excellent second half performance at Anfield before the international break. The Senegalese international has a total of ten saves from the first three Premier League games. Several of Villa’s key men are unavailable for this match so expect Mendy to have a rather quiet match and another clean sheet.
Cesar Azpilicueta, Right Centerback, No. 28, Spain
The skipper has been immense as ever for the Blues. Azpilicueta only came on as a substitute during midweek’s 2-0 victory for Spain. The Spaniard has won 19 duels and managed 12 clearances in the first three matches so far this season.
Andreas Christensen, Centerback, No. 4, Denmark
The great Danish international has been sensational for Chelsea so far this season. Andreas Christensen has a total of 22 recoveries from the first three games and put on a monumental man of the match performance against Liverpool. Also fresh from a clean sheet for his native in midweek Christensen will undoubtedly head straight in the starting line-up.
Antonio Rudiger, Left Centerback, No. 2, Germany
The German international fresh from a goal in midweek for his native country should be heading straight into the side barring any issues with COVID regulations. Rudiger has already won eleven duels with his opponents and has 10 recoveries in only the first three games. Toni has been consistently brilliant since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.
