Callum Hudson Odoi (Right wingback): 8/10

Callum Hudson Odoi got his first minutes of Premier League action against Villa and really showed his worth both as a wingback but as someone who can play in several positions. He did great things on the right with Hakim Ziyech put lacked that final ball to create really anything of consequence. He moved into a front two with Lukaku for 15 minutes and his movement was good but it didn’t really lead to anything and was subbed of for Werner. Overall a good performance that should get him more minutes as the season goes on.

Saul (Central midfielder): 5.5/10

Saul got his debut today after joining the club on loan last week and to say the least it wasn’t one to remember. On several occasions he kept the ball too long and got caught out of possession, misplaced passes and really struggled with the physicality of the Premier League. He was subbed of at halftime with Tuchel clearly seeing him struggle, bringing a premature end to his debut that we hoped could of been better but his mistakes didn’t effect the result which is the main thing therefore Saul should put this behind him and move forward.

Mateo Kovacic (Central midfielder): 9/10

Just wow that has to be the best all around performance I have seen from Mateo Kovacic in a Chelsea shirt. Entirely different to his midfield partner Saul who struggled on his debut, Kovacic was lively from start to finish with his pressing and he was driving ball forward to create chances. First with that beautiful assist for the first goal when he threaded the ball through two defenders into the bath of Lukaku who did the rest and then finally got his first goal at Stamford Bridge after capitalized on mistake by Tyrone Mings and dinked the ball passed Jed Steer. A goal and assist was the icing on the cake as he did everything you expect your number 6 to do, pressing and creating chances for your forwards.

Marcos Alonso (Left wingback): 7.5/10

Marcos Alonso has been a mainstay as Left wingback this season with Ben Chilwell not getting any minutes at all as of yet. Against Villa he had the captains armband and did a good job for most part but lacked that final ball and got megged by Leon Bailey which led to yellow card for the Spaniard.
