Chelsea vs Aston Villa score predictions: A return victory
Chelsea’s current bogey team travels to Stamford Bridge to take on Thomas Tuchel’s new look squad. The Blues added Romelu Lukaku and Saul Niguez in the summer to an already strong, Champions League-winning squad. Both will be available for selection when Dean Smith’s Aston Villa comes to town. The Villains defeated Chelsea in the final game of the last campaign, almost ruining the Blues’ shot at Champions League qualification. The home side will be out for blood in Lukaku’s return to SW6, the question is whether or not it can capture all three points on this occasion.
Here is how The Pride of London team sees this match playing out:
Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 3-0 Chelsea
Aston Villa has proven difficult for the Blues in recent times. However, they should have too much for the visiting challengers. The Villains have not started the season well and Chelsea should look to pile on more misery. Hakim Ziyech may return, which means it’s going to be scary for Villa.
Mike Malley: 2-0 Chelsea
This much-hyped Villa team has gotten off to a disappointing start in 2021, having taken only four points from its first three matches. That fact, combined with Chelsea’s incredible form, spells doom for the side from Birmingham, especially if the Blues’ stars play up to their potential. Timo Werner looked particularly hot during the international break, scoring three goals and assisting another, so he will likely be included in Tuchel’s starting XI on one of the wings. Unless Smith made some massive tactical adjustments over the past few weeks, expect an easy victory for the Blues.
Tan Yi Hao: 3-0 Chelsea
Villa being without its two key players in Emiliano Buendia and Emiliano Martinez is definitely going to have a massive impact in terms of the overall quality of their team. However, that is not to say that this game will be a walk in the park with Villa most likely setting up to play on the counter-attack anyway. It is ultimately still up to the Blues to take their chances whilst preventing their opponents from hitting on the break and with Lukaku seemingly fit to play, I would most certainly back the Champions of Europe to secure all three points.
Abhishek Pancholi: 4-0 Chelsea
Fairly straightforward win with Saul scoring on his debut, and running the show in midfield.
Vansh Ambashta: 2-0 Chelsea
Lukaku to score both goals, Chelsea to dominate. Tuchel’s Blues are back!
Anthony Gatt: 3-1 Chelsea
After that final day defeat of last season at Villa Park, the Blues will looking to bounce back against the Villains and take all three points. But it won’t be easy. Although Villa has had a slow start to the season, the attacking talent and defensive solidity they have to boast will cause some issues for Chelsea. Regardless of that, this well-oiled machine that Tuchel has created will be too much to handle for Villa, ending 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Barrett Rouen: 2-0 Chelsea
The Blues are always a little vulnerable following an international break. Our players are usually weary from several matches and international travel. That said, in a match that will show mainly professionalism, Chelsea will be aided by the squads various injuries and suspensions picking a very experienced, strong team for this match. The Blues take a slow one.
Hugo Amaya: 3-0 Chelsea
A scoreline not reflective of the game. Chelsea will struggle to get a foothold in the game. However, three mistakes will be more than enough the Blues to take advantage and get all three points. Goals from Lukaku, Werner and Antonio Rudiger.
Leighton September: 4-0 Chelsea
Villa has two key absentees in very important positions for them, Martinez in goal and Buendia in attack. For the Blues, no matter who plays, will field a very strong team nonetheless. I expect Lukaku to get a couple and Werner to be among the goals, as well.
Nate Hofmann: 3-1 Chelsea
Villa without Jack Grealish is simply a different beast; one with less diving and better haircuts. The lack of Grealish is one thing, but add in the weird South American COVID shenanigans involving Villa’s two Emilianos (Emiliani?), Buendia and Martinez, and this is an even less threatening prospect. Of course, Premier League matches are never as simple as they look on paper, but this one seems pretty clear-cut as long as everyone in blue is on the same page after the international break.
Akshat Mehrish: 3-0 Chelsea
Man for man, Chelsea beats Aston Villa on paper easily. However, the Blues have found it difficult to get past the Villans in recent times. Nonetheless, with key opposition players missing, this could a great opportunity for the team to end a semi-worrying streak. And with key personnel in good form, the stage is set for them to do exactly that.
Kevin Peacock: 4-1 Chelsea
Villa will be no match for a Chelsea side looking to avenge a 2-1 defeat in the final game of last season. Having been sent off by match referee Stuart Atwell, Cesar Azpilicueta will be particularly keen to make his mark. A couple of assists for the captain and goals for Lukaku (2), Mason Mount and Marcos Alonso. A lucky deflection gets Villa a goal.
Varun Dani: 2-0 Chelsea
The preparation for this was hardly ideal for a team like the Blues, who had plenty of key players away on international duty. Under normal circumstances, Villa would’ve had the upper hand, but with the ridiculous squad depth Chelsea has accumulated, Tuchel will field an equally fresh squad. The likes of Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, Ziyech and possibly Callum Hudson-Odoi will be given their chances to impress and should be raring to go. Saul might be given a full start if he’s impressed enough these past 10 days and it will be rather interesting to see if Ben Chilwell finally gets some minutes under his belt. All in all, goals from Lukaku and Ziyech will be enough to get the resolute Blues over the line.
Gabe Henderson: 3-1 Chelsea
The Blues will dominate this match, but Bertrand Traore will grab one back in his return to Stamford Bridge.
