Prediction

The old saying is that form goes out the window when two rivals clash. This couldn’t be more true for this weekend’s meeting between Spurs and Chelsea. However, the bookies have a clear standout winner for this match-up. The north London side has only ever twice started a league campaign with three home wins on the bounce, doing so in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 seasons. Tottenham has won eight of its last 10 Premier League matches at home, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process. How will the Spurs players cope with the Europa Conference League, the Thursday-Sunday swing and will there potentially be a hangover from the second half of the match this Sunday?

Chelsea, who played Zenit at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, will have had a couple days longer to rest than Spurs. The Blues are expected to be fully re-energised for the short trip up north. Some people might say that the Blues have been the most consistent and most feared team in all of Europe since the arrival of the German coach only eight months ago. Spurs have massive defensive worries, whether it’s injuries or suspensions.

The European champions and their supporters will be right up for this match. The Blues will be gunning for a bit of history of their own, should they pick up a victory. Chelsea has won each of its last five away league London derbies. The Blues have never won six in a row on the road before in their league history. Will they make it six in a row?
