2. Turbo Timo strikes again

One of the best players for Chelsea on Wednesday was definitely Timo Werner. The German ran around the field, created space, made terrific runs and even managed to score the only goal for Chelsea on the evening. He was the sole striker for the Blues and he took full advantage of that opportunity. Unlike Romelu Lukaku, Werner does not like to maintain his position all the time. This makes him more free and players can make a pass or play a through ball to him quite easily.

Werner was on top form against Aston Villa and he even tried to play a lovely pass to Lukaku when they were on the pitch together, which would have sealed the match. However, the ball was just played a bit behind the Belgian and the game had to go to the penalties. Werner—alongside Hakim Ziyech—had a good run in the Carabao Cup contest. The two have good chemistry between them and Ziyech often tried to find the German without even looking at his positioning.

Although Werner opened the scoring in the second half, the first half was pretty uneventful for him. He was getting the ball on the side of the field and he could not make his way to the center to take a shot. However, in the second half, Werner managed to turn a beautiful cross by James into a well-headed goal. The ball was delivered perfectly for the striker and he just could not miss from that position. This is his first goal of the season. He had the chance to get his second goal minutes later, but he ended up just putting the ball wide of the post. Werner has been on good form recently and he even got an assist against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend. This goal was what he needed for a boost in confidence, and now we must wait and see what Tuchel has in store for him next.
