Chelsea vs Man City preview: How to watch on TV and live stream
If you were to ask any football fan who the two most successful English clubs are over the last decade, an overwhelming majority would be quick to name Chelsea and Manchester City. The two different shades of blue have taken the world by storm as manager after manager at each post has lifted almost every trophy imaginable. The power struggle culminated in Porto just a few months ago when the two sides met in the Champions League final.
The Blues got the better of the Citizens that night, a 1-0 victory leading to the second UCL trophy in the club’s history. Thomas Tuchel made it three wins in a row against Pep Guardiola, an unprecedented achievement for any manager. The victory at the Estadio do Dragao cemented the belief that the German had transformed an inconsistent Chelsea side into one of the world’s best. The Blues have not faced their lighter-shaded rivals since that glorious night in May though.
Chelsea vs Manchester City preview: How to watch and live stream Saturday’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge
There has been a lot of talk about Chelsea being legitimate contenders for the Premier League crown. The Blues have conquered the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal, while putting on an impressive showing at Anfield. They are unbeaten in eight competitive contests this season. However, in order to be considered the best, one has to beat the best. Right now, that’s Man City.
The Citizens have had a relatively rocky start to the season—at least for Guardiola’s standards. Their season began with a 1-0 loss at the hands of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A few wins followed, but then Southampton managed to contain Man City and take a point away from that fixture. It’s seemingly feast or famine for the Citizens though. They have scored more than five goals on numerous occasions, but in other games, failed to really get going. Nevertheless, Guardiola will have his side ready to get revenge on the team that denied it European glory last season.
The two match-ups between the Blues and Man City this season are likely amongst the most high quality games the Premier League has to offer in 2021/22. It’s two title challengers squaring off for the first time since the UCL final, what’s not to get excited about?
