Reece James (Right wingback): N/A

Unfortunately, Reece James came off with an injury in the 29’ with nothing show for the match. However, it would have been interesting to see his impact in the game.

Jorginho (Defensive midfielder): 3/10

Sadly, Man City’s relentless press set Jorginho up to fail. While in previous matches the Italian international has been outstanding, Man City managed to shut him out this time. Jorginho had no outlets to create any threat. He did a decent job at defending, but it was all he did. Anything else was either redundant or failed.

Mateo Kovacic (Central midfielder): 3/10

The Croatian international tends to serve as the avenue to break the press of opposing teams. However, he did nothing of the sort against Man City; granted, he did not have much support to do so. Mateo Kovacic did not do anything extraordinary throughout the contest. He had one good run toward goal and his shot was deflected away behind the net. Kovacic was often in between two City players, unable to break away.

N’Golo Kante (Central midfielder): 4/10

It was hard to understand his substitution as he was the only midfielder pressing Man City for mistakes. N’Golo Kante was also the only reason why Chelsea got three different breakaways in the first half. Kante made all the difference in stopping the Man City attack and was the only midfielder who wanted to push for the equalizer.

Marcos Alonso (Left wingback): 2/10

If there was anything positive Marcos Alonso did throughout the game, someone, please point it out. Against Spurs, Alonso was outstanding in both defense and attack. However, against Man City, he was nowhere to be found. Alonso should have been one of the few outlets for Chelsea to attack, and yet, he did nothing. His defending was below average and his attacking capabilities were non-existent. I’d be surprised if he is benched in the coming matches though.
