Chelsea vs Southampton score predictions: Win before break
Chelsea prepares to host Southampton in the final Premier League match before the international break. The Blues come into the contest having dropped their last two contests in all competitions. Both the 1-0 losses to Manchester City and Juventus respectively have been soul crushing as Thomas Tuchel’s men have looked strangely uncomfortable going forward. The contest against Saints provides them with the perfect opportunity to bounce back in stylish fashion, although Ralph Hasenhuttl has given the London side fits in the past. It’s set to be an entertaining clash between two familiar managers and their high-tempo styles of play.
Here is how The Pride of London team sees the contest playing out:
Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 2-0 Chelsea
It has to be. Back to back defeats means the home side needs a win on Saturday. A resounding victory, but any triumph would do right now after the recent outings by Tuchel’s team. Southampton has always been a difficult opponent for the Blues, this will not be any different.
Barrett Rouen: 3-0 Chelsea
We lost to Man City and Juventus, the reigning Premier League champion and the best club in Serie A history—boo hoo. My confidence is completely and unabashedly unwavering.
Mike Malley: 2-0 Chelsea
Back to winning ways, at least one would hope. Excuses can be made for losses to Man City and Juventus, but Saints are a completely different story. Chelsea will have the better players in just about every position on the field, so there is no reason the Blues should not come away with all three points. Romelu Lukaku needs to score to get back on track.
Nate Hofmann: 2-1 Chelsea
Southampton just isn’t very good. The Blues aren’t either at the moment, but in a pure test of squad strength, you have to lean towards the home side.
Vansh Ambashta: 2-0 Chelsea
The Blues will look to get back to their usual winning ways. It’s time for Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi to finally make their mark. A brace for Lukaku to get the job done with Hudson-Odoi providing quality service to the Belgian throughout the contest.
Hugo Amaya: 4-0 Chelsea
The Blues are expected to bounce back and bounce back they will. A very strong performance that will speak volumes to Chelsea’s title hopes. The team will dominate the match for the most part. Supporters can expect a relatively slow start, but the flood gates will open eventually and the scoring will surely follow shortly after. Two goals in each half will see the Blues earn the three points at home against Hasenhuttl’s struggling Saints side.
Gabe Henderson: 3-0 Chelsea
See Barrett’s analysis, it was spot on. The Blues will tear through an average Southampton team en route to a dominant display. Tuchel gets his team up for this one and it crushes the visitors.
