Chelsea is one of the most competitive teams in the world at the moment and with impressive squad depth, there will be a lot of players left out of the starting XI more often than not this season. While some players have shown their ability and proven to the manager that they deserve to be in the team, others have not had the same success. There are a few players who have not been able to cement their name in the starting line-up or even play on a rotational basis since they have not made enough impact to impress Thomas Tuchel just yet.

These three Chelsea players must do better when given time in order to survive in such a competitive environment

There are a number of players who must pull up their socks in order to survive in such a competitive league and such a deep squad. Individuals who are not impactful to the team will be dropped and seemingly no one is safe from the manager’s axe. The gaffer has a lot of decisions to make and can easily rotate the whole team, as demonstrated during the game against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup. Therefore, the question must be asked: what can these players do to get back into the team? Well, for starters, they will have to make an impact on the training pitch, Tuchel has never shown a priority to anyone. Whoever performs better in training ends up getting an opportunity with the starting XI sooner rather than later.

Marcos Alonso and Kepa Arrizabalaga are two examples of how much Tuchel values performances during training. Even though Ben Chilwell was the Blues’ best left wingback last season, Tuchel chose Alonso to start in the majority of the matches thus far since Chilwell was not performing well enough back at Cobham. Arrizabalaga was also Tuchel’s main penalty stopper since he has been more effective in this department during training. Thus, the three players in this list should make more of an effort during training and during the opportunities in competitions, such as the League Cup, since Tuchel will likely call on them to show up in those games.
