The player is one of the most technically advanced players and can see a run before it has even been made. He used to give supreme passes to Olivier Giroud back in the days and could easily give a defense breaking through ball however since he was playing in the CDM position, he was still required to do his defensive duties. This is where he lacked in the first few seasons. The PL is a big jump from the Serie A in terms of sheer physical prowess and Jorginho definitely struggled with it in the first two years.

N’Golo Kante was the more physically dominant player and Frank Lampard used to play him more. This started rumors that Jorginho might leave Chelsea to join Juventus with Mauricio Sarri. However, those rumors were put to rest once he started playing more regularly. In his third season, he understood the game more, he made good decisions all around the pitch and kept his game simple. While he still possesses the quality to play flashy passes and carry the ball out himself, he chooses to just control the midfield.

Jorginho has accepted that he is not the strongest or the speediest player in Europe or even in the PL however, he overcomes his opponents by playing smart. He decides the tempo of the game and can easily slow down or speed up a game with his quick and accurate passes. He has the heart and the courage to go into every tackle expecting to win the ball and he has improved a lot, defensively, since his first time in the PL. His personal development along with his exploits last season should see him win the Ballon d’Or this season.
