2. Jorginho doesn’t deserve it because he doesn’t have a domestic trophy

While in terms of European glory, the Italian has won everything with Chelsea. He won the Europa in his first season with the club, he won the Champions League as well last season, and lastly, he won the Super Cup this season. However, he is yet to win a domestic trophy with the Blues. He has been named as one of the most technically brilliant players of last season however, he is yet to show his dominance in the English league. The Ballon d’Or comity will not only evaluate his European performances but his domestic performances as well, and that is where he is slightly lacking.

Chelsea has not won anything domestically since Antonio Conte won the FA Cup in 2018. Thus, Jorginho is yet to win anything domestically with the Blues. His last season domestically was not great either. While he did play a lot of games and ended up as the top scorer for Chelsea in the league, due to all the penalties, he was not very regular at the beginning. When Lampard was at the helm, Jorginho was often found sitting on the bench and he had a long stint where he did not even make a cameo via a substitution.

This season, however, the Italian has been a constant for Tuchel and he has only missed one or two games so far. He has been much more involved in the back and has lost only one match so far. Chelsea finds themselves sitting on the top of the table at the moment however, his last season’s performance might hamper his chances a bit. Players like Messi and Lewandowski dominated the domestic scene and even though Barcelona did not win the league, Messi ended up as the top scorer of the league which gives him a huge boost over Jorginho.
