Chelsea at Brentford predicted XI: Thomas Tuchel starts strong XI
Mason Mount (No. 19) Right winger, England
Another Chelsea player who can do no wrong at the moment is Mason Mount. Mount is also up for nomination for the Ballon d’Or this year, one of five Blues on the shortlist. The England international was deeply missed by Chelsea for a number of important games before the break but he very much changed the game when being subbed on against Southampton, which spurred the team on to a 3-1 victory. Mount’s overall game and link-up play will prove to be key for the Blues in this particular fixture.
Romelu Lukaku (No. 9) Striker, Belgium
Up top is Romelu Lukaku. Having gotten off to a fast start to his second homecoming, the Belgian international now has no goals in his last three Premier League games. This is a big concern for Tuchel. However, Chelsea did get two wins from its last three league games. The upcoming matches for the Blues will no doubt be of any concern for the Belgian and will be certainly looking to add to his goal tally of three so far this season. Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte made a bold claim in that Chelsea hasn’t figured out how to play with Lukaku. The statement might seem a bit true, but nonetheless, Lukaku is still finding his feet with numerous partnerships up front.
Timo Werner (No. 11) Left winger, Germany
The electrifying German is back in form for club and country. Four goals, one assist and six chances created in his last six appearances for Chelsea and Germany. Werner has failed to live up to his high expectations in his Blues career so far but recent performances make it look like he has turned a tricky corner. With the Chelsea support singing his name week in and week out, his confidence can only grow from now on.
