Chelsea versus Malmo was never going to be a very competitive fixture. The Blues stayed true to that statement by putting four goals past the Swedish team and effectively ending its UEFA Champions League run. The Swedes still have three games left, however, if they continue playing the way they did in the first three games, they will end up going home very disappointed. The London side was the latest team to demolish Malmo and it ended up scoring four against the Allsvenskan Champion. This was an utterly dominant performance by the Blues and they deserved to take all the three points from this game.

The game actually started off quite interestingly as both the sides looked very good on the ball. As expected, the London giants did most of the pressing throughout the game and forced Malmo to sit back. Nevertheless, at the start of the game, the Swedish side looked more confident and tried to send a few good through balls and start a few counter-attacks. This ended quickly, however, as Andreas Christensen found the back of the net in the ninth minute of the game. This was the first goal for the defender in 137 appearances and it was taken in quite some style, as well.

The game then went on to become extremely one-sided and the European Champions ended with more than 70 percent of ball possession throughout the game. Malmo’s spirit broke after the first goal and Chelsea capitalised on the lack of discipline shown by the Swedish outfit. This allowed the Blues to earn two penalties and it could have possibly even been three or four. However, it was not all sunshine for the home faithful as they had to see two of their players limp off before halftime.

Thus, without any further ado, let’s get into the three lessons learnt in the match.
