3. Mason Mount 22

Mason Mount is Chelsea’s own homegrown academy boy who has gone on to lift the Champions League with his boyhood club. Not only did he lift the greatest club trophy with his childhood club, but he also played a big part in the goal that won them the finals of that competition. It was not just that sole game either, he played on a different level last season and his passion and determination won him the Chelsea player of the season for 2020/21. He ended the season with nine goals and nine assists. He was the most dynamic player on the field and was a humble person off the field.

Mount not only won the praise of his manager, Tuchel but also won the hearts of all Chelsea fans. This season, the Blues and England star did not start the season with the same intensity and creativity as the previous season. However, that could have been due to burnout and exhaustion. He not only played 53 games for the London side last season but also went all the way to the finals of the Euros with England. Tuchel gave him a well-deserved rest and then in the game against Norwich, Mount scored his first-ever hat-trick for Chelsea.

Things seem to be going quite well for the academy star and he has a contract till 2024. So what exactly is the problem right now? well, as mentioned before, many players at Chelsea are paid a lot of money. However, Mount is paid around 76,000 pounds a week. While this may seem a lot, it is actually quite less when compared to the likes of Havertz, Pulisic, etc. Mount is undeniably one of Chelsea’s most important players and it is time that the Blue’s board shows their appreciation for the player by offering him a new contract.
