1. Antonio Rudiger

The player who has undoubtedly improved the most under the new management of Thomas Tuchel has to be German defender, Antonio Rudiger. The former Roma man was made an outcast by the Lampard management and there were even talks of loaning him away or selling him last season. However, since the Tuchel management took over, Rudiger has been transformed into a man-mountain who cannot be broken down by any attack in the world. Chelsea definitely has one of the best defenses in the whole of Europe and Rudiger is the center of that backline. He dictates the game from the back and makes sure that absolutely no one gets past him.

Rudiger has been transformed into a no-nonsense defender who can intimidate any attacker and he has a certain sense of dominance about him similar to that of Sergio Ramos. His performance since the January of this year has been fantastic and he has managed to prove all the doubters wrong. The same fans and people who wanted him gone from the club now wants him to sign a new contract due to his stellar performances, however, Rudiger knows his worth and is not going to accept anything less than a super contract from Chelsea.

The reason why the contract negotiation has been extended this long is that Rudiger is already 28 years old and this could very well be the last big contract of his professional career. He wants to explore all his options before making his final decision and that is something Chelsea cannot allow him to do. The player has already talked about Bayern Munich’s interest in him and said it was an honor that such an elite club wanted him. Apart from that, rumors also suggest that Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are all ready to snatch him up in the winter transfer window or next season if he fails to sign a new contract with Chelsea. The Blues cannot allow him to go to a direct rival and they must sort out his contract before anyone else can approach him.
