1. The striker problem might be coming back

Timo Werner was the star signing last season and he was the striker who was supposed to change everything for the Blues and form a partnership with the other amazing forwards to become one of the most intimidating strikers in the Premier League. However, that definitely did not happen and even though Werner ended up contributing a lot of assists and even scored a few goals, his stats were nowhere close to that of his time back in the Bundesliga. This along with the fact that he was missing golden opportunities meant that he was losing his touch as a prominent goal scorer.

The way Tuchel used to set up his attack, called for a target man striker who would put the majority of the balls at the back of the net and thus the former Paris Saint-Germain manager asked for a new striker this season. The Blues invested almost a hundred million pounds in the mission and brought home one of the best strikers in Europe, Romelu Lukaku. However, although the former Everton and Manchester United man started out brilliantly in the team, he seems to be losing his touch just a little bit now. The Belgian is now without a goal in his last seven appearances for the club.

Both the strikers combined, have scored only six goals so far and that is well below acceptable. Lukaku might be going through a bit of misfortune as he had his goal against Southampton ruled out before hitting the bar late on in the game. Werner on the other hand was improving. However, it seems like the striker curse just won’t go away that easily. Both the strikers got injured in the game against Malmo and none of them is fit enough to make a return soon. This might all just be a coincidence but it does seem like that striker position is really cursed at Chelsea.
