Premier League leaders Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by a stubborn Burnley side as Matej Vydra canceled out Kai Havertz’s opener. It turned out to be a disappointing afternoon in West London as chance after chance were squandered by the Blues attackers and only had to settle for a point.

The home side started the game well, dominating the ball and attempts on target throughout the first half. Playing with a high level of intensity and pressure, Chelsea broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute as Kai Havertz put a pinpoint header from Reece James in the back of the net. The game intensified in the second half as the West London side kept missing chance after chance and they paid the price as Burnley equalized through Matej Vydra in the 79th minute. A series of tactical changes couldn’t do much as the league leaders had to settle for a point.

Here’s how each Chelsea player fared against a resilient Burnley side:

Edouard Mendy (Goalkeeper): 6/10

The Senegalese international again did not have much to do today in terms of saving shots on goal. Compared to the previous few games, Edouard Mendy was a bit more involved and couldn’t keep a clean sheet as Burnley nicked an equalizer against the run of play. To be fair to Mendy he couldn’t have done much about the goal as the defense was caught lacking.

Andreas Christensen (Centerback): 6.5/10

Andreas Christensen is also a player who could have been more attentive to avoid Burnley from scoring the goal. The Danish center-back lost track of his man Jay Rodriguez who eventually ended up assisting the goal. But other than this moment, Christensen had a good game-winning seven aerial duels, creating one key pass and made one interception.

Thiago Silva (Centerback): 7/10

The Brazilian veteran looked the best and most composed defender today. Thiago Silva apart from being the part of the defense that turned off at the wrong time was heavily involved in the attacking half taking three shots on goal one of which went on to hit the post in the second half. Silva won five aerial duels and made four tackles throughout the game.

Antonio Rudiger (Centerback): 6/10

Antonio Rudiger did not play well today by his high standards. With not much-attacking threat from the Burnley attackers, the German defender was caught lacking the last quarter of the game and played Jay Rodriguez onside who squared the cross to Matej Vydra to score the equalizer. Rudiger by the end of the game played part in winning only two aerial duels made only one interception but made no tackles. A bad day in the office.
