Chelsea Vs Burnley: Missed chances comes back to haunt the Blues
3. Same problem as the last match
Chelsea was the better side out of the two no doubt however, they were unable to go back with all three points because of one simple reason, the lack of efficiency in front of the goal. The Blues like in the game against Malmo kept creating chances after chances but kept missing them or not being clinical enough. The goal was fantastic and both Reece James and Kai Havertz linked up beautifully to finish off the goal however, after that so many missed opportunities lost Chelsea the two points. This is exactly why the London side needs to finish off the game as even though they might dominate throughout the game, one single counter-attack or good play from the opposition can ruin the night.
Against the Swedish side as well, the Blues were lucky to get away with the three points. Malmo had some good chances early on but they could not capitalize on them. Even after the goal, the Swedes had a couple of chances but Chelsea defended well. In this game as well, even though the attackers were missing chances after chances, the defense was steady. But the whole game cannot depend on the backline and just one good ball over Andreas Christensen’s head was good enough to break the defense.
Ross Barkley, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ben Chilwell, and James all had a lot of chances to put the ball at the back of the net but bad finishing along with fantastic keeping from Nick Pope saved the opposition time and time again. This should be a lesson for the Blues as their next match will be Leicester and that will be a must-win game for them. Right now they must cope without a striker however, the return of Mason Mount could help them out significantly as well.
