1. Still a very dominant performance

Even though the Blues dropped points today and were not clinical enough in front of the goal, this was one of the matches where there was a pure difference in class between the two teams. Chelsea was by far the superior team and Burnley must thank their defense and their goalkeeper who single-handedly saved and blocked so many shots. The Blues had 70 per cent of the possession and were awarded 14 corners throughout the game. They also had a passing accuracy of 86 per cent which shows you that they were much more dominant in the midfield.

They moved about the ball smoothly without any sort of counter-press from the opposition and at times it felt almost too easy to break through their midfield. Burnley on the other hand were defending in numbers and blocked a lot of shots by putting their bodies on the line. They would have still conceded if Chelsea had a bit more luck on their side. Christensen had an early chance from a corner but his header just fizzed past the goal. Thiago Silva also had a golden opportunity after a beautiful delivery from James found him in the box. However, his header was also wide of the post.

Lastly, there was an incredible chance for Barkley just before he was subbed off. The former Everton player was one of the best players on the field throughout the game and he kept making chances after chances. However, when it was his chance to put the ball at the back of the net, he could not keep his composure and skied the shot. Other shots from James, Chilwell, Havertz, etc., were all blocked by the numerous players playing from inside the penalty box. Chelsea was definitely the better side however, Burnley had the better luck tonight.
