Chelsea vs Burnley score predictions: Clarets get crushed
Chelsea has been on an absolute tear this season. Thomas Tuchel’s men are kicking Arsenal and taking names as they continue their quest to the top of English football. A win against visitors Burnley on Saturday would see them go into the calendar year’s last international break atop the Premier League after a dominant first quarter and some change. The Blues have been in first for a number of weeks now and they show no signs of slowing down. This is especially true when one considers the struggling form of Sean Dyche’s Clarets, who currently sit in the relegation zone. A number of injuries to key starters for the home side makes this one interesting, but it should turn out to be a comfortable victory nonetheless.
Here is how The Pride of London staff sees the contest playing out:
Anthony Gatt: 2-0 Chelsea
Burnley finally got its first win of the season last weekend against Brentford, so I fully expect the Clarets to be motivated going into this game. Therefore, I believe it won’t be as straightforward a win as the games against Newcastle and Norwich were. The Blues score two goals late in the second half to get another win going into the international break.
Gabe Henderson: 2-0 Chelsea
It won’t be as comfortable as the Blues would perhaps like, but it’ll be a relatively clinical display.
Subhrajit Chowdhury: 1-0 Chelsea
This will be a frustrating game for the Blues, not because Burnley will be able to match them, but because the opposition loves to defend throughout the game. Tuchel’s men must find creative ways to slice through the Clarets’ defense, otherwise it may end up in a draw.
Barrett Rouen: 4-0 Chelsea
For personal reasons, I hope the Blues lay a proper smack down on these lads. Jorginho to score off a penalty that Havertz wins.
Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 1-0 Chelsea
Opponents seem to be finding it easier to play against Chelsea. However, that shouldn’t stop the Blues from coming away with maximum points. Their depth has been called upon and they’re showing that they are capable of delivering. Chelsea just needs to win to keep the advantage the Blues have at the top of the table. Hopefully Man City and Liverpool lose while they’re at it.
Nate Hofmann: 2-1 Chelsea
If Chelsea has any intention on really making a title push, it’s important to keep steamrolling through these bottom-half sides and not get tripped up by, say, Crystal Palace. The Blues have the ironic benefit of an injured set of stars making way for a hungry group of fringe players, who are still good enough to dispatch the dregs of the league. It feels like there might be a late-game Malang Sarr disaster or something similarly dumb, but Chelsea should head into the break on a high note.
Olly Smith: 3-0 Chelsea
Burnley used to be a difficult game but recently there have been a lot of struggles at Turf Moor. Based on Chelsea’s form, the struggles will continue. The Clarets will sit deep and it will take time to break them down, but Jorginho and Havertz will score. Christian Pulisic will add some sparkle at the end with a goal.
Kevin Peacock: 3-0 Chelsea
As much as Burnley may time-waste, foul and try to assert some kind of control over the Blues, they will fail dismally. It could be argued that Tuchel’s side has stuttered to some of its recent victories. However, the end result has nearly always been positive. Burnley may well huff and puff but it’ll not knock down Chelsea’s house. Goals from a defender, midfielder and striker secure the win.
Mike Malley: 2-0 Chelsea
The final leg of Chelsea’s very winnable run of matches is finally here and the team has passed with flying colors. The Blues’ recent dominance in the Premier League has left them at the top of the table, and another three points could be crucial considering both City and Liverpool will face difficult opponents at the weekend. The main attacking threat from Burnley will be Maxwell Cornet, but the Ivorian’s hot start in the English top flight must come to an end.
Varun Dani: 2-0 Chelsea
Man City and Liverpool have already beaten Burnley by a 2-0 scoreline, so it only makes sense for the third horse in the title race to do the same. The Clarets will be classic Burnley and the Blues will have to stay patient and clam to find openings in the final quarter.
Abhishek Pancholi: 3-0 Chelsea
The scoreline of three unanswered goals won’t nearly reflect the superiority of the Blues on the day. The Clarets will try their usual schtick of fouling their way through the game while having a bus parked in front of goal, hoping for a lapse of concentration from their opponents to nick a scrappy goal of their own. Unfortunately for them, Tuchel’s Chelsea has already seen off multiple teams that have tried the same formula. A goal from a set-piece will open the floodgates and a couple more well-taken strikes will be enough to send Dyche and his boys back to the gravel pit.
