2. Too many offsides and missed chances

One of the annoying things present throughout the game, and especially toward the end of the match, was Chelsea’s finishing. Ben Chilwell had an amazing chance to get back at his former club and give the Blues the early lead, but he shot the ball with too much power and his chance went behind for a goal kick off the bar. Hudson-Odoi also got a couple of brilliant chances and although his dribbling and play up to the shot were great, the shot itself lacked accuracy. Christian Pulisic was another player who missed a golden opportunity, but later managed to put the third goal into the back of Schmeichel’s net.

Another problem had to do with the runs that players were making. Chelsea could have had four or five goals easily on the day had the players taken a bit of time to recognize their positions before making the runs. The offside goal by Hudson-Odoi was not really his fault and there was nothing that the Blues players could have done about that. However, a brilliant move created by Chilwell, Ziyech and finally finished by Reece James, was ruled offside because Chilwell was just inches off when he received the ball in the beginning of the build-up. The runs need to be paced a bit better then these chances will help the team put even more pressure on the opposition.

Apart from that, Havertz was having a bit of difficulty as the Leicester defenders were extremely rough with him and he will need to work on his physicality if he wants to survive in the Premier League. He had a couple of great chances, but Jonny Evans was always on him and dispossessed him by hook or by crook. Mount had a relatively quiet game, as well, and came off in the 62′. Chelsea was definitely the better side on Saturday but given the number of chances it created, the Blues will be a bit upset to not have scored more goals.
