Chelsea is back! The two-week international break once again felt like an eternity as we awaited the return of club football. The Premier League comes back with one of the best games of the weekend, an early Saturday kickoff between the aforementioned Champions of Europe and Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City. On one hand we have the leaders of the English top flight and on the other, the most disappointing side thus far this season. Nevertheless, the tension between the two sides and the caliber players amongst them will make this must see TV.

The Blues were beaten by the Foxes in last year’s FA Cup Final, but got their revenge in a league match just days later. Daniel Amartey’s disrespectful throwing of a Chelsea banner led to tempers to flare in the latter match and that’ll undoubtedly play a big part in the game on Saturday. Thomas Tuchel’s men need to get back to winning ways if they want any chance at a title run. The Blues dropped points at home to Burnley before the break. They have some injuries, but there’s still little wiggle room at the top. The visitors need to impose their will early at the King Power Stadium this weekend and put in a true title-worthy performance.

Here is how The Pride of London team sees the contest playing out:

Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 0-2 Chelsea

This is a bold prediction as the game is immediately after the international break and an early kick off. The Blues generally don’t win these contests. They’re looking to continue their title charge and the Foxes are currently in their way.

Tan Yi Hao: 1-2 Chelsea

Post-international break matches can be rather unpredictable affairs and considering the number of players who went away on international duty, it is inevitable that some of the rhythm at the club level will be lost. Nevertheless, I am going for a Blues win here because thats what title-contenders are made of.

Subhrajit Chowdhury: 0-1 Chelsea

Although the Foxes will have the advantage of being at home, I believe Chelsea will have what it takes to get past Rodgers’ men. Leicester, after all, is winless in its last three games and is sitting in the bottom half of the table. The Blues, on the other hand, put a strong performance against Burnley and were unlucky to drop points. They are currently at the top of the table, but this will be a closer match since the international break can mix up the flow and momentum in the league.

Anthony Gatt: 0-1 Chelsea

Considering this match is a 12:30 kickoff (local time) of the back of an international break. I think it’s going to be a quite boring affair with Chelsea scoring late in the second half to take all three points back to west London.

Barrett Rouen: 0-1 Chelsea

This has “problem” written all over it. The Blues aren’t great after international breaks but good news is Leicester will have similar issues. The Foxes are one of the best four sides in the league. They’re better than Spurs, Man United and Arsenal, so they need to be regarded as the side they are. This is a tough, serious and professional match between two current Premier League giants; either way, I choose us because that’s the only prediction I ever make.

Olly Smith: 1-2 Chelsea

Don’t be fooled, this Leicester team poses a serious threat. Fresh from the international break, this could cause the Blues issues. A lot of me wants to call this one as a draw, but I just think there will be a late mistake from the Foxes and Chelsea will nab the winner. An Antonio Rudiger header and a late winner from Christian Pulisic off the bench will win it as he shakes off the ring rust.

Hugo Amaya: 0-2 Chelsea

A good win, but not an easy one by any means. Both teams will struggle in all areas, but the Blues will be clinical enough to get the goals and the three points.

Gabe Henderson: 0-2 Chelsea

I don’t foresee the Blues having another defensive error in them like the one that cost them two points against Burnley. It was the same type of mental mistake from the back three that saw Frank Lampard’s Chelsea let in so many goals. Tuchel won’t let it happen again. The Blues grab a goal just before halftime and a late second from the penalty spot. A massive three points won.

Leighton September: 0-3 Chelsea

The absence of Youri Tielemans in the Leicester midfield will be huge. Chelsea will be out to avenge the FA Cup final loss last May too. Tuchel and Co. will be going in guns blazing and will expect a pretty routine victory against a toothless Foxes side.

Kevin Peacock: 1-2 Chelsea

Contrary to popular belief, Chelsea doesn’t do too bad post-international break. The anomaly was the 5-2 defeat at home to West Brom last season. This season, victories have followed the tedious World Cup qualification merry-go-round. Leicester has so far failed to hit the heights that followed its Premier League title in 2016. Rodgers has been linked with jobs elsewhere and may be coming to the end of his tenure with the Foxes. Expect Tuchel’s Blues to still be leading the EPL by at least three points by the end of the weekend.

Next. Chelsea shouldn’t start certain players simply because it can at Leicester. dark
