Chelsea at Watford score predictions: Blues sting Hornets
Chelsea is in desperate need of three points if it wants to stay atop the Premier League table ahead of a massive clash with West Ham at the weekend. Thomas Tuchel’s side has dropped points recently against Burnley and Manchester United, its lead atop the league dwindling to a mere point in the process. Therefore, it’s imperative the Blues leave Vicarage Road on Wednesday with a win. They will be without a number of key contributors in Ben Chilwell, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, but they’ll have to improvise against a newly promoted side.
Here is how The Pride of London team sees the contest playing out:
Gabe Henderson: 0-4 Chelsea
The Blues need a bounce-back victory following the disappointing draw with Man United. Tuchel doesn’t accept anything less than perfection and his side thrives in these scenarios. The Premier League leaders are without a number of key players, but they’re blessed with the return of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian No. 9 will run rampant against a mediocre Watford team that’s punching well above its weight at the moment. A statement win from the leaders in the thick of a title race.
Varun Dani: 0-3 Chelsea
Chelsea will channel the frustration from the weekend to ease through this midweek game. There’s no better team than Watford for the Blues to find their shooting boots as the busiest stretch of the season begins.
Nate Hofmann: 0-2 Chelsea
The Blues’ biggest issue isn’t Watford here, it’s their own injuries and reintegrating the players who are finally coming back from them. If players like Lukaku, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic can start to find a vein of form, it could be enough to carry Chelsea through the next few matches as the fixtures pile up. Watford is an absolute wildcard, and can score four goals about as easily as it concedes them. However, with several key Watford players looking unlikely to take part on Wednesday, it should be one-way traffic in favor of the Blues, and a relatively routine win is the likeliest result.
Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 0-3 Chelsea
The Blues just lost (yes, lost) to Man United at home. The players will be as irritated as the fans and they need to make a scapegoat out of Watford. Nothing less will do.
Barrett Rouen: 0-2 Chelsea
I think we score but play a pretty haphazard and not entirely fluid style of play without Chilli and the King James. Lukaku to score.
Kevin Peacock: 0-4 Chelsea
Never mind all the Blues must win stuff after the weekend’s draw with United . . . how lovely will it be to come up against Claudio Ranieri again. The Italian was there at the very start of Chelsea’s modern-day footballing dominance. The tinkerman will hopefully not get his team playing too well. The Blues will, of course, win. December is an incredibly busy month for Tuchel’s team and the German’s penchant for having a bit of a tinker himself will be very much to the fore. Whoever starts the game will have no problem dispatching Watford, sad though it will be to defeat Claudio.
Mike Malley: 1-3 Chelsea
Chelsea’s defense has been looking more porous than usual over the past few matches, so the Hornets’ high-flying strike force of Emmanuel Dennis and Joshua King will probably get one over the line. In the end though, the Blues are a much better side overall and should prevail to claim all three points. Hopefully this will not feel as much like a FIFA match as last Sunday’s contest with Man United did, and multiple players with big No. 3s on the front of their jerseys will put the ball in the back of the net. I would prefer if one of them were the Belgian man with the massive price tag hanging around his equally-massive shoulders.
Olly Smith: 0-5 Chelsea
The Hornets are going to play Chelsea at the worst possible time. Fresh from the bitter disappointment of the Man United draw, the Blues will crush Watford. All of the demons (and missed chances) from the Man United game will manifest themselves into complete domination by the visitors. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Reece James, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic to score.
Hugo Amaya: 0-2 Chelsea
A game of redemption for the Blues. The opposition will be aware that Chelsea wants a solid victory and will put up a good fight. However, it won’t take long before the Blues strike. Defensively, Chelsea will have a solid performance, but will struggle to make decent chances. Nevertheless, two goal in the second half will do the trick.
