Chelsea at West Ham score predictions: Competitive contest
Chelsea takes on West Ham in the Premier League in a massive London Derby on Saturday. A lot of the focus lately has been on the reigning European Champions’ spot atop the league table, but there is not a lot of discussion around the Irons, who currently sit fourth in the league. The stakes are even higher in this clash with Thomas Tuchel and David Moyes both looking to take all three points away from the contest. Neither side is in particularly good form lately, the Blues’ struggles mainly due to the plethora of injuries within the team. Nevertheless, this clash is set to be a heavyweight bout between two of the best in the English top flight.
Here is how The Pride of London team sees the contest playing out:
Tan Yi Hao: 0-1 Chelsea
Accounting for the way Chelsea barely scrapped past Watford on Wednesday, and the amount of injuries Tuchel has to manage, this will be a very difficult match up for the Blues. Romelu Lukaku to start and score the only goal of the game.
Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 0-1 Chelsea
This is perhaps going to be Chelsea’s most important game of the season. With Manchester City and Liverpool picking up form, the Blues will have to get their wins any which way, regardless of performance. They have a lot of injuries and West Ham has always been a threat to Chelsea, more so now. The Irons have already dispatched Liverpool, and it’s clear that if there are weaknesses in the side, Moyes will exploit them. The Blues have enough quality to see them through this match though and bring home three points.
Leighton September: 0-3 Chelsea
The Hammers—like the Blues—have their injury blows and have struggled for form, despite Chelsea winning in midweek. West Ham has lost two of their last three though. This is a London Derby and it is away. For that, I can see the Blues ease to victory. Lukaku double and Marcos Alonso free kick goal for the third.
Olly Smith: 1-2 Chelsea
This fixture has always been a thorny one for the Blues, and with a number of first choice players out or recovering from injury, it will be a tough game. Mason Mount and Kai Havertz to combine for the first, Lukaku to pot the winner late in the game.
Gabe Henderson: 0-2 Chelsea
I genuinely believe West Ham is one of the best teams in the league. Moyes has his side playing inspired football over the last calendar year and the sky is seemingly the limit. However, the Blues are in a class above the Irons, along with Man City and Liverpool. Tuchel’s side is one of the best in the world on its day, this will be one of those days. Three points and a massive confidence boost before matches against Zenit, Leeds and Everton.
Anthony Gatt: 0-1 Chelsea
After playing midweek in what was a lackluster performance against Watford, I think the blues need to get back to the basics. Which is keeping clean sheets and getting all three points at fulltime, West Ham are good so Chelsea need to make no mistakes and have that little bit of quality in the final third and they will leave London Stadium with the W.
Varun Dani: 1-2 Chelsea
The Blues can’t afford too much rotation due to the rather long injury list, further straining the few playing nearly every game. Moyes and West Ham will smell blood and inflict a big blow, but Tuchel will run his magic and ensure the Blues do just enough to make it through.
Kevin Peacock: 0-1 Chelsea
Fortunately, whilst Chelsea struggles with injuries, it plays West Ham at the London Stadium, rather than Stamford Bridge. With great thanks to Edouard Mendy, another clean sheet allows Mount’s goal to be the winning one.
Mike Malley: 0-1 Chelsea
This will have to be the scoreline if the Blues have any chance of taking all three points. The Hammers are serious contenders for the Premier League’s final Champions League place this season and should not be taken lightly. Recent history would give Chelsea the advantage, as the European Champions swept both of last season’s meetings, so supporters will be hoping that trend can continue.
