Christian Pulisic (No. 10) Right winger, United States

Christian Pulisic has had to make appearances at center forward recently and he has left a lot to be desired, which is to be expected because he’s not a center forward. Pulisic is a winger who prefers to cut in from the left and generally finds space between and behind the opposition’s back line. The American may not be starting in his preferred left wing spot, but he has played right wing a healthy amount and will be more than capable of doing a job there, especially when one considers that it’s Chesterfield. Pulisic’s ability to get behind opposition back lines will prove very useful in a game like this. The former Dortmund man has even had to play right wingback in recent games to get more playing time, but right wing would be a lot more preferable than right wingback, you’d imagine.

Timo Werner (No. 11) Center forward, Germany

Timo Werner is due a start. He played very well against Zenit St. Petersburg in the strike partnership between himself and Romelu Lukaku. He scored twice and assisted once in a 3-3 draw that was entertaining for non-Chelsea or Zenit fans. This game provides the perfect opportunity for the German to get his goal tally up. He has not scored much for the Blues this season, though he has been getting chances. He was on the receiving end of an exquisite pass from Hakim Ziyech against Tottenham in the EFL Cup semifinal first leg, he tried to lob Hugo Lloris but the Frenchman would not be beaten. Werner needs goals, and he will not get a better chance to get them than this.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (No. 20) Left winger, England

Callum Hudson-Odoi is one of Chelsea’s most dangerous players cutting in from the left wing. He hasn’t gotten as many starts in recent time as he’d have liked, but competition for places is fierce and unfortunately, someone has to sit. Hudson-Odoi has never really been able to nail down consistent starting spots under three consecutive managers and it may be time to start asking why. The youngster’s talent is there for all to see. He has mostly played very well whenever he’s been given opportunities, and here is another opportunity for the youngster to impress. This may be seen as an easy game, but if the Blues don’t do their job, their cup run could end before it even starts, and that would be quite the headline should the Blues bow out to Chesterfield.
