Defensive midfielder: N’Golo Kante, Chelsea

If N’Golo Kante is fit, he starts for any team in the world. The Frenchman has a skillset that remains unmatched to date. No one can do what he does on a football pitch. Kante has created two big chances this season in just nine starts (12 appearances), while Rodri has created none, despite starting 17 games. Further, he has better dribbling statistics. Fernandinho tends to get away with multiple fouls against Chelsea and doesn’t do anything Kante can’t do. When fit, Kante has the potential to decide a game single-handedly. At that moment, there is nothing the opposition can do to stop the beloved 30-year-old.

Central midfielder: Kevin de Bruyne, Manchester City

Kevin de Bruyne can find pockets of space that aren’t visible to the naked eye. He can change the outcome of a match with one pass and that quality is rare these days. While his impact has been relatively less on Manchester City’s season, his quality cannot be understated. His presence in the list is merely due to the fact that small margins often decide such high profile matches, and de Bruyne is like a trump card in such situations.

Central midfielder: Mason Mount, Chelsea

Mason Mount has been terrific this season. After his wisdom teeth issues, he has managed to create some momentum and has scored seven and created five throughout the campaign. In comparison, Ilkay Gundogan has seven total goal contributions. There is no doubt that Mount will achieve great heights at Chelsea and he is an example of the quality at Cobham. He won the club Player of the Season award last season, and he has done well this season. The 23-year-old is an absolute delight for a coach as his work rate and pressing increases the overall play of the team.
