Chelsea takes on Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on Sunday in the 2021/22 Carabao Cup final. The contest will represent the capital city’s finest club’s chance at a third piece of silverware this season after it captured the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup earlier in the campaign. However, this will be Thomas Tuchel’s team’s toughest test yet as Liverpool heads down south in scorching hot form. The Reds have stormed back in the Premier League to cut the deficit between themselves and Manchester City to just three points. All the while, their opponents find themselves in a world of their own in third place.

The two results between the sides this season do suggest that the Blues have a much better chance at getting a result than many are giving them though. They controversially drew 1-1 at Anfield, despite having just 10-men for an entire half, before another tie at Stamford Bridge (2-2) later in the campaign. Aside from Ben Chilwell, the World Champions look fit across the board for the first time in months. It’s going to be a very open contest, but unlike the other two games played between the English giants this season, this bout must produce a winner at full-time.

Here is how The Pride of London team sees the Carabao Cup final playing out:

Gabe Henderson: 2-1 Chelsea

I think the Blues have outplayed Liverpool twice this season, despite both games ending in a draw.  They will be up for the task under the fading sunlight at Wembley Stadium. Tuchel shocks some people with his team selection, it pays off in the end and a substitute—be it Romelu Lukaku or someone unlikely off the bench—grabs the winner after the Reds equalize late through Mohamed Salah. Chelsea lifts its third piece of silverware this season and turns its attention to a fourth in the form of the UEFA Champions League.

Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 1-0 Chelsea

Just win. Please win.

Barrett Rouen: 1-1 Draw (Chelsea wins on pens.)

I just don’t think we’re actually all that good but we play up for Liverpool. I have a feeling that Tommy T has something wild up his sleeve, so we’ll see some tactical decision to throw Klopp off early. We go ahead first because of it but Liverpool wears the Blues down. Kepa the hero.

Anthony Gatt: 1-1 Draw (Chelsea wins 5-4 on pens.)

Two draws already this season against Liverpool, so why not another? This time, Chelsea gets the better of Liverpool and wins the Carabao Cup after penalties.

Kevin Peacock: 2-0 Chelsea

This final is all about Kepa, at least it was three days ago. With Abramovich stepping to one side for the good of the club, he has once again proved how much he respects Chelsea, it’s fans and the community around Stamford Bridge. Of course, for everyone else, the Russian just adds to the hate. As for the game, I can only predict a win. Kepa to be the hero—one way or another—with the League Cup suddenly becoming irrelevant as the Blues collect yet more silverware.
