Chelsea just enjoys playing at Turf Moor. For some reason, Burnley’s home stadium—which is usually a tough ground for teams, Spurs for example—is just a playground for the Blues. Saturday marked another successive win at the historic ground, where Chelsea has scored a lot of goals in the past. The Blues started the latest game in northern England slowly in the first half, but ran rampant in the second half to prove the point made in the previous sentence.

The World Champions started the second half with a goal from Reece James in the 47′, which was huge seeing as Chelsea struggled heavily in the first period. His strike was soon followed up by Kai Havertz’s double, as he scored in the 53rd and 55th minutes respectively. Lastly, Christian Pulisic capped of the scoring with a sneaky effort which saw the Blues score four goals in a game for the first time since November 23 against Juventus. Chelsea continues to solidify its position of third in the Premier League table, next up is a midweek game against struggling Norwich City. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves though, now is time to celebrate the decisive win on Saturday.

Here is how each individual player fared in the statement victory at Turf Moor:

Edouard Mendy (Goalkeeper): 6.5/10

Edouard Mendy didn’t have much to do during the entirety of the game. However, in the first half, he had a couple moments that could have went badly. His miscued punch almost led to a Burnley goal. Mendy was strong with his voice, as fans saw him shouting instructions to the back line throughout the second half. Overall, he was tidy with his catches, but as stated earlier, he didn’t have that much to do, which is a complete contrast to the Liverpool game where he was too busy.

Trevoh Chalobah (Right centerback): 7/10

Those stitches must have done him wonders. Trevoh Chalobah had a solid game, usually he has less responsibility of the three defenders as this is his first season. Although, in Saturday’s game, he was just as busy as his counterparts. Chalobah was careful and precise in possession throughout the game. He had one glaring mistake where he tried to usher the ball out of play, and it got nicked off him in a dangerous area. Ironically, he recovered that ball and made up for his mistake. Overall, he was not the worst of the three, which is always a plus in your first season at an elite club

Thiago Silva (Centerback): 7.5/10

Does this Rolls Royce defender ever have a bad game? The Brazilian was excellent as he was Chelsea’s most assured defender in a game where Burnley started on the front foot. Silva was the lead communicator of that back line, and last line of defense, an example of this was his goal line clearance in the 16′. Silva continued to be poised in defense and didn’t really put a foot wrong.

Antonio Rudiger (Left centerback): 5.5/10

Everyone has a bad game every now and again, at least this one didn’t really affect the team. Antonio Rudiger was sloppy in possession, I genuinely cannot remember the last time Rudiger gave so many balls away. In the attacking third, he took some ill-advised shots and sometimes disrupted the flow of possession. He usually takes one shot every game but, in this game, he continued to shoot that ball. The German didn’t make any glaring mistakes and this rating might be a little harsh, but fans expect a lot of Rudiger now and he just had an uncharacteristic game.
