Chelsea travels to Norwich City to take on the Canaries for the second time in the Premier League this season. Thomas Tuchel’s men were able to embarrass the English top flight’s punching bag at Stamford Bridge as they defeated the basement boys 7-0 in an attacking clinic. Those were simpler times though as Norwich was managed by one Daniel Farke. Now, it is the familiar face of Dean Smith in the dugout at Carrow Road. Smith’s Aston Villa teams gave Tuchel’s squad a couple of fits this season before his sacking, although the Blues went on to win each meeting.

This is another game on the Canaries’ home turf that is absolutely crucial for both sides. They were defeated by Brentford at home in a relegation scrap just a few days ago, now it’s a team fighting to keep its comfortable cushion in the top four race that comes to town. Chelsea has seen its top four rivals—notably Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham—drop a significant number of points as of late and this is an opportunity to capitalize. It’s not a must win for Tuchel’s squad per se, but it’s a match in which the Blues should dominate quite easily. Three points at Norwich would only serve to put a bigger gap between themselves and the field.

Here is how The Pride of London team sees the contest playing out:

Bo Martin: 0-2 Chelsea

The Blues are starting to hit their stride and a match-up with Norwich is exactly what’s needed to continue to build confidence. Kai Havertz has revitalized this squad’s attack and they will continue their form against a Canaries side that possesses a -1.05 expected goal differential per 90. This win keeps the away side on pace for Champions League football next season.

Gabe Henderson: 0-3 Chelsea

The Blues won the reverse fixture comfortably by an incredible score of 7-0. They have a number of key players missing in this one—notably Ben Chilwell and Reece James—but they’ll still manage to get the job done. Smith has done a wonderful job as manager at Norwich and there’s something to be said for the on-field improvements he’s made over the last few months. However, the Canaries were a train-wreck when he got there and that was never going to change in just a couple of months, regardless of the manager. I don’t have anything against Smith or Norwich, so I hope they manage to bounce back quickly (assuming they stay together) next season. Nevertheless, they’ll be easily pushed aside by a Chelsea ‘B’ team on the day.

Kevin Peacock: 0-3 Chelsea

The Blues did well to beat Burnley at the weekend and although no games are easy, any that involve Norwich are right up there. The Billy Gilmour-hating Canary supporters deserve to taste defeat. Who will start remains a mystery but this could be a good game to kick-start Timo Werner’s Chelsea career. Being firmly on the Timo “fun bus,” I predict him to grab a hat-trick to secure the win.

Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 0-3 Chelsea

The Blues recorded their highest win margin in a long time in the reverse fixture of this match. Norwich has since changed its manager and Chelsea should not expect this one to be nearly as easy. The Blues should still be able to comfortably see off the Canaries though.

Barrett Rouen: 0-4 Chelsea

I am starting to foster an opinion that all the noise around Roman Abramovich is putting the Blues in one of those useful “back against the wall” scenarios that they are best in.

Mike Malley: 0-3 Chelsea

We all remember what happened the first time these two teams met, so we all know what’s probably going to happen again. The Mason Mount debate is raging yet again on Chelsea Twitter, and while I think the English starlet could probably use a rest against on Thursday, the Canaries are his favorite opponent. Tuchel should include Mount in the XI and hope for another hat-trick.
