Cezar Azpilicueta (Right wingback): 5.5/10

Cesar Azpilicueta didn’t seem to be having a good game throughout his 45 minutes on the pitch. It was not so much him doing things badly as much as it was him not doing much at all. The current sanctions mean that Chelsea cannot renew the captain’s contract, even if it wanted to. No matter when he does depart, Azpilicueta will be leaving Chelsea having won everything there is to win in club football and not many can boast of that. The skipper is a true club legend.

Jorginho (Central midfielder): 5.5/10

Chelsea had a lot of possession, so all the midfielders only needed to focus on one phase of play. However, when Jorginho was called upon, he made no tackles and he was dribbled past twice on the evening. His distribution and dribbling were very good against the Canaries’ undisciplined midfield though. He did make one interception, which is not be surprising, but a mere consolation statistic as he was relatively quiet.

Mateo Kovacic (Central midfielder): 7.5/10

Mateo Kovacic, despite having no defensive actions, more than made up for it with superb ball retention, exquisite ball carrying and very good ball distribution. He won three out of five duels and completed four out of five long balls. Kovacic leads all Chelsea players in dribbling accuracy amongst players who’ve played up to 900 minutes. He ranks second in the team for tackles per game. He also ranks second in big chances created, behind only Mason Mount (8).

Saul (Left wingback): 7/10

Saul grew into the game as it went on. He was very active defensively and he had very good distribution. The Spaniard made several key defensive actions; he was alert and didn’t get caught out by Norwich unnecessarily.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Right wingback): 6.5/10

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was better than the man he replaced at halftime, but not by that much. He did create a chance and he was strong in the duels. The Englishman also won three tackles. He did use his body well, however, he did nothing noticeable. For the most part though, that’s good. Loftus-Cheek was played as a wingback, which is a very difficult position to play, especially for a first-timer (second if you count his late-game cameo against Burnley).

N’Golo Kante (Central midfielder): N/A

N’Golo Kante doesn’t get a rating because he didn’t play up to 10 minutes in the match. This is to ensure players that had very little time to impact the game aren’t judged like those who played substantial minutes. That said, the Frenchman injected something into the game that we didn’t know it needed. He made two driving runs, one of which resulted in Chelsea’s third goal. He was very good, even in just a brief cameo.
