Chelsea hosts Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday in a London Derby that has massive top four implications. It’s a tight race around the top for the Premier League’s UCL qualification places. It goes without saying the title is a two-horse race with Liverpool and Manchester City, and then there is the reigning European Champions sitting comfortably in third. However, below that trio is a mess of top four hopefuls looking to lock up that fourth spot. The Gunners would give themselves a massive advantage in that race over Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham if they’re able to get back to winning ways.

Thomas Tuchel’s men aren’t going to be easy to take down though. Only a handful of teams have taken all three points from the Blues this year, many of them better overall than Arsenal. Regardless, form and squad skill is thrown out the window when these two clubs get together. Chelsea has only managed to win four of its last 15 meetings with the Gunners. The Blues will be looking to do the double over their north London foes for the first time since the 2015/16 campaign and move one step closer to securing their place in the Champions League next year.

Here is how The Pride of London team sees the contest playing out:

Caden Charpentier: 2-0 Chelsea

This is a rivalry, so it might be a tight affair. However, Tuchel and the Blues are in far better form than the Gunners, who have a lot of work to do to solidify a Champions League spot. Mason Mount gets on the scoresheet again as Chelsea comfortably cruises past Arsenal, who is depleted with several key injuries including Alexandre Lacazette, Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney.

Gabe Henderson: 2-1 Chelsea

I’ve been saying all week—half joking, half serious—that Arsenal is going to win this game. For one reason or another, the Blues have been incapable of beating the Gunners twice in one season, especially when the odds are in their favor. Nevertheless, this team is too talented. Tuchel is a much better tactician than Mikel Arteta (although I think the Spaniard is better than fans give him credit for) and that will prove to be the difference. Chelsea will strike first, but Arsenal will respond through one of its young attackers before the Blues send their supporters home happy.

Mike Malley: 2-0 Chelsea

This match is incredibly well set up to be a massive disappointment for the Blues. Is this game crucial? Yup. Is Arsenal on an abysmal run of form? You bet. Is Chelsea playing better than it has all season? Absolutely. I’m pretty nervous about the result, and I think it will be largely decided by the strength of Tuchel’s starting XI. Hopefully, the Blues’ stars will come out to play, as they have done over the past few weeks.

Anthony Gatt: 1-0 Chelsea

I hate predicting this fixture. Jorginho will score the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as the Blues win 1-0 at home.

Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 2-0 Chelsea

This will be a repeat of the reverse fixture. Chelsea has played a lot more games than Arsenal this season and that may play a role in the result.

Joseph Joe: 3-0 Chelsea

We can expect to see an exciting derby on Wednesday. The Blues have not really been impressive at home this season with losses to Brentford and Real Madrid still in the back of supporters’ minds. Nevertheless, the west London side has picked up form immensely over the last few matches. This doesn’t entail the writing off of the Gunners though, even with their current form. On paper, the Blues look set to see off its north London neighbors.
