Chelsea’s identity will be restored by suitable ownership and ambition
Reading through genuine journalistic updates yesterday which concerned Chelsea from Daily Telegraph, The Times and other trustworthy reports, was concerning, to say the least. First of all, there was speculation emanating from supposed “Government insiders” who are becoming more worried over the timing of the CFC takeover. Apparently it must be completed soon in order to “safeguard” an ability to compete next season. In addition to securing the general future of the outfit, says Matt Lawton. This story emerged as Roman Abramovich is thought to now want a £1.6billion loan repaid; naturally this could scupper existing bids.
Rob Draper illuminates the issue further for fans by breaking down the latest news. However, the overview does not ease apprehension because details are candidly stark. Draper says if Abramovich does indeed demand the previously mentioned amount to be reimbursed, then the scenario could he an “existential” one for the Blues. That means the club could be on the line, effectively; although I am positive that the government would intervene further to save the side if the Russian is being particularly uncompromising to the point of jeopardising the Pensioners. Ministers have said this situation “can’t happen”, though a May 31 deadline looms.
How the Chelsea identity will be restored through diligence and ambition
OK, that’s the scary stuff over, so hopefully you can relax and stop panicking now. My job isn’t to sensationalise, but to explain then offer my opinions. Which is exactly what Pride of London shall continue to do forthwith. If the correct offer is accepted, trophies will continue to be attained. Remaining as the pride of London.
I can clarify, for what it is worth, that I believe Chelsea will be in new hands by the end of the month. The likely party in control will be the ambitious Todd Boehly consortium; though Sir Jim Ratcliffe certainly seems keen to shake up a possibly pending agreement by sticking around at the moment.
Whoever – or whichever collective – becomes the new ‘Chels’ supremo, they must adopt the methods of the Abramovich era in order to succeed in restoring and maintaining the West London club’s triumphant and focused identity. Impactful yet delicately is the way forward, as history indicates.
What the former proprietor did which was perfect for any team with aspirations, was this: develop the global brand successfully and massively, along with appointing the most premium staff available in order to invest in the best players. Not to mention positioning optimum coaches to prepare for glory. While Abramovich really stayed back allowing achievement to be made; if problems arose, he acted almost immediately to resolve at executive level.
Lord Sebastian Coe – Chelsea supporter for over 50 years, Sir Martin Broughton group member, Olympic Gold Medal winner and current Member of the House of Lords – put my sentiment wonderfully. In an interview on Wednesday, he stated:
"“you don’t really own a club, you’re the stewards of a community sports organisation.”LBC"
Lord Coe asserts that this form of ownership is the finest the Blues faithful can hope for. Similarly to other fans, he wants a prompt resolution to the matter, but CFC must be in the right hands. Furthermore, he labels the sale of the club as a one-off, which needs the govt. to be clear over what is required to conclude.
