Finally a resolution to the removal of Roman Abramovich by the United Kingdom government seems to be transpiring. As we all know, many groups wanted to own Chelsea but only one could succeed. Thomas Tuchel reiterated today, Friday, as developments in new ownership evolve positively, that the gap between the Blues and Manchester City and Liverpool needs closing. And not for the usual reasons: the German asserts that clubs below – presumably Arsenal along with Tottenham Hotspur – are also becoming better placed to rise onto the Pensioners’ echelon. Tuchel says he and his coaches are trustworthy to make improvements. In addition, he claims there is no reason for supporters to doubt this.

Other topics covered in the CFC manager’s pre-match press conference for Wolverhampton Wanderers – kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday at Stamford Bridge – were expansive, as usual. The undoubtedly excellent choice – especially when sanctions emerged – of Thiago Silva’s January deal was mentioned. Tuchel pointed to the Brazilian veteran’s huge dressing room influence and sturdy role. In addition, and peculiarly, the father of Christian Pulisic apparently criticised the former Borussia Dortmund boss recently, on Twitter of all places. Though Tuchel, in typically defiant spirit, was unconcerned over such a scenario. You can read every word from the presser by clicking this link.

According to various reports, an announcement of new Chelsea owners is pending

Now, let’s move back to the reportedly imminent announcement of new ownership on Fulham Road. This day – likely the weekend, or even Monday – will be a joyous and worry-relieving one for Chelsea players, staff, executives and, most importantly, supporters. A stressful, unhappy and daunting period in the famous West London outfit’s history will be over soon.

Although time was brief in the awfully uncertain era, some scaremongering even placed the club as an entity at jeopardy. Only this past Thursday, Pride of London said there was no way that would happen and that the United Kingdom government would intervene again. Yet, the scare stories – from sources we won’t name but which are included the previous link – continued to make an odd situation worse.

Thankfully, former Blues owner Roman Abramovich confirmed he did not want or expect a £1.6billion loan to CFC to be repaid. This was the unforeseen but seemingly imaginary spanner in the works this week; and it was said to be jeopardising an agreement. Now, news states, all that is left to do before the Todd Boehly-Clearlake consortium – which is involved in an “exclusivity period” of five days due to being the preferred bidders – sign papers, is to receive govt. go-ahead. The UK Treasury must sign off on the deal, basically.

Others involved in the collective include billionaire and one-time medical device manufacturer, Hansjorg Wyss from Switzerland. Additionally, British property developer Jonathan Goldstein is also a member. Reporter Ben Jacobs suggests CFC executives are now tasked with drafting a joint statement announcing the sale of Chelsea Football Club. This is a key update.
