Chelsea vs Liverpool predicted XI: 3-4-2-1 in the FA Cup final
Mason Mount (No. 19) Right winger, England
Mason Mount is now up to 11 league goals and 10 league assists for Chelsea this season which deserves massive praise. In the FA Cup this season, Mount has scored one goal, provided three assists and created three big chances. He played particularly well against Leeds, scoring a goal and assisting Christian Pulisic’s goal. The Blues will also need Mount for his work rate. It’s difficult to forget his performance in the last cup final he featured in for the Blues, where he missed three clear-cut chances. That one is gone, however, and this is another one, and the Blues have to do everything in this game to ensure that they control their fate.
Romelu Lukaku (No. 9) Striker, Belgium
Romelu Lukaku has finally displaced Kai Havertz from the line-up. In fact, Havertz was an unused substitute for the Blues in their last game. It should come as no surprise that when Chelsea players make effort to create chances for Lukaku, he scores. Lukaku took six shots against Leeds and eventually scored. He denied Hakim Ziyech a big chance created though as he did not take his shot first time, holding the ball up until it was no longer a clear-cut chance.
Chelsea fans had been cheering the decision to bench the Belgian, but he’s back on the scoresheet and has again reclaimed his title as the highest goalscorer in all competitions for the club this season. He’s also the Blues’ highest goalscorer in the FA Cup this campaign. He scored a perfect goal against this opponent in a cup final earlier this season that was wrongly ruled out. He could do with a bit of luck in this game.
Christian Pulisic (No. 10) Left winger, United States
Christian Pulisic has been very good this season goal-wise, scoring six and standing just two goals behind Chelsea’s highest-scoring striker Lukaku. His communication with Lukaku and Mount in the Leeds game was very good, and his goal was well taken. He has hurt Liverpool with his dribbling before and he will get more opportunities to do that on Saturday. His movement will be even more important in the final as he is very good at finding spaces in the box to take very good shots.
