Chelsea hosts Watford on the last day of the Premier League season in one of the season’s most underwhelming affairs. The fate of both teams is already locked—well, that is unless Tottenham flips a -18 goal difference on its head on matchday 38—with Thomas Tuchel’s men sealing the third spot and Watford going down once again. Roy Hodgson’s men have been one of the only sides in the league to look worse than the Blues in recent weeks though, so odds are the home side does the double over their not-so-friendly neighbors on the final day of the campaign.

There is little to focus on for the neutrals in this one seeing as there is a title race, top four scrap and relegation battle still to be decided in 90 minutes on the last day of the season. However, a handful of Chelsea players will be saying their final goodbyes to Stamford Bridge and its faithful supporters on Sunday. Tuchel will want to give them a proper sendoff to remember, so it’s likely that he will want to grab all three points. The European Champions will likely do everything in their power to win once the opening whistle blows given this is the last time they’ll take the pitch under that name for at least another 15-or-so months. How will the season conclude?

Here is how The Pride of London team sees the contest playing out:

Joseph Joe: 3-0 Chelsea

Last game of the season against a relegated side? Well, Chelsea’s youngsters should form a major part of the starting XI and it’s a match the west London team should be cruising in. Believe me, there’s no better way to end the season than with a bang!

Bo Martin: 2-1 Chelsea

I don’t have the same negative sentiment toward this season as many within the fanbase. When you consider then volume of football played between last season, the Euros and the 60+ matches this season, finishing third is actually an incredible accomplishment. All of that said, Chelsea has struggled recently to put away lesser opponents and in a game that means very little, I could see a flat finale.

I expect some younger players to make the matchday squad and their inexperience will make this match a bit closer than it would otherwise be. Nevertheless, the Blues secure the victory with a late goal and head into a difficult offseason with something to be (somewhat) happy about.

Kevin Peacock: 3-0 Chelsea

Chelsea bows out of what has been a tumultuous season of ups and downs with a comfortable win. With the media constantly on the club’s back, the fact we’ve finished third in the Premier League, reached both domestic finals and won two trophies is something to be proud of.

Tuchel has not only been the face of Chelsea through a regime change that is still on-going, but he’s had to steer the team through some very rough seas. The German has done so magnificently. The new owners must make securing Tuchel’s services their No. 1 priority. As for the game, with a few players making their last appearances for the Blues, it’s bound to be emotional. As a whole, whoever plays will want to give the supporters in the stadium a decent home win. I’m not so sure who scores, but I would put money on Antonio Rudiger doing so.

Gabe Henderson: 3-1 Chelsea

The Blues will end the season on a high note and send their departing soldiers off the right way. It’s what many of them deserve, and it’ll be a nice gift to fans ahead of an offseason filled with uncertainty. However, it’s Hodgson and Watford taking on Chelsea Football Club, of course the Hornets will nick a late goal. Regardless, that’ll be the only blemish on an otherwise emotional—yet still somehow insignificant (results wise)—day in the Premier League.

Mike Malley: 2-0 Chelsea

Now that the season doesn’t matter, expect the Blues to start playing well. I hope Tuchel deploys a heavily-rotated XI that gives a few academy players and the departing stars a chance to shine in front of the Stamford Bridge crowd. It’s going to be an emotional day, but hopefully, one that celebrates this team’s resilience through a thoroughly exhausting 2021/22 campaign. I assume Todd Boehly will be in attendance to accept the metaphorical torch being passed to Chelsea’s new owner. This is going to be a big summer, but I’m optimistic about the future of our football club.
