Jorginho (No. 5) Defensive midfielder, Italy

Jorginho definitely starts this match. There is a lot of talk about him moving in the summer, but it’s not likely he departs the club. We’ve heard these rumors every transfer window since Maurizio Sarri left Chelsea, and it has all ended the same way, every time. Time will ultimately tell, don’t be surprised to see the penalty guru in blue again next season though.

Trevoh Chalobah (No. 14) Central midfielder, England

Trevoh Chalobah has played well in his last three games and is now up to 20 appearances in the league. The youngster has worked hard to get to this point and he deserves this. He debuted in the UEFA Super Cup final at the beginning of the season, at the time many were speculating about whether he goes on loan and where he goes on loan if he does. He’s been a great addition to this Chelsea side throughout the course of this season.

N’Golo Kante (No. 7) Central midfielder, France

Tuchel mentioned that N’Golo Kante is Chelsea’s most important player and that it’s a miracle the club was able to achieve all it did when him being unavailable for large parts of the season. Tuchel also did say that Kante played about 40% of the Blues games this season. This is—of course—not true. Kante has played in 41 out of 62 games the team has played this season, which means he has played 66% of Chelsea’s games in all competitions.

The other thing many don’t know about that quote is that Tuchel knows exactly what he’s doing and he knows that the figure is more than 40%, he quoted 40% to make a point. The more important thing is that the inaccuracy of his figure doesn’t disprove the point Tuchel was making. Kante is a key player, and it doesn’t help any team for its key player to miss nearly 40% of the games either.

Those who are losing patience with Tuchel will want to latch onto the inaccuracy of the quote to show they’re right to be irritated with him, but no manager wants to be with any key player for nearly 40% of their games. Thus, the point Tuchel was making is still valid. The Blues will probably consider selling the Frenchman if they are presented with an irresistible deal considering he has just 12 months remaining on his current contract.
