Reece James reveals new owner Todd Boehly’s passion for Chelsea
Anticipation of the unknown builds on Stamford Bridge as the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital consortium claw their way ever closer to a desperate takeover of Chelsea Football Club. Blues supporters have been teased by supposed developments over the past month, many positive. Meanwhile, some extremely negative and potentially devastating hearsay emerged. Thankfully, trustworthy media are now reporting the imminent completion of the deal, which must of course be approved by government. At any time over the next couple of days, the final announcement of Roman Abramovich’s replacement should happen. With all parties apparently content.
After a tricky campaign, as I alluded to, the CFC squad can enjoy holidays. Unless they are stars such as Reece James and Mason Mount, who will join up with the England team for training under Gareth Southgate before Nations League clashes. The roster will return to Cobham – including new signings and omitting standout departing personnel, for example Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen – on July 2 for the start of offseason training. Following this, Chelsea will embark on a preseason tour of the United States. The only confirmed game as of yet, state chelseafc.com, is on Saturday, 23 July in the Florida Cup versus Arsenal. An exciting trip.
Reece James reveals new owner Todd Boehly’s passion for Chelsea
When Boehly and his administration are instated on Fulham Road, there is much business to conduct. And that is especially relevant to the West London outfit because they have been restricted from doing nearly anything but actually playing – for months. No current players could technically discuss or sign new deals, no transfers could be made whether incoming or outgoing, along with new tickets for home matchdays being effectively outlawed, unless already paid for. So fans felt they were punished for no good reason – and have a valid point.
However, this awfulness is about to change, if news is to be believed. All of a sudden there will be massive alterations at the Bridge. Mark my words. I must also warn you that some of your favourite personalities at the club might disappear as well. That is, if they haven’t gone so far.
Although there will be some fresh faces, some particularly notable I imagine, who will replace exiting assets. Contemporary leading men will materialise, in other words. Soon-to-be ownership are set to make two marquee signings, Pride of London discovered from recent reporting.
Expect James’s and Mount’s upgraded agreements with the Blues to be one of the first elements of the modern era to be finalised when the changing of the guard occurs. The former has met Boehly, which may surprise some of the faithful. Yet the latter was a spectator for three of the final Chels’ outings, by my count; therefore the American businessman likely spoke to many affiliated people.
The versatile wingback divulged some information from their encounter, which is sure to please fans. James is confident about the immediate future of the team, believing further trophies can be attained. He describes the meeting below:
"“‘I spoke to him [Boehly] briefly. I know he’s passionate about the club, his aim is to win. We’re not just going to change to a club that’s participating… everyone that plays at this club is ambitious.”– Reece James, football.london"
