Eventually, it seems as though the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital consortium takeover of Chelsea is imminent. Well, only a problem regarding where Roman Abramovich intends to place proceeds could now derail the process, if reports are to be taken on face value. That is because the Premier League approved Boehly’s bid, and, as of Tuesday night, the government issued a licence permitting the sale of CFC. The previous information comes via cabinet minister Nadine Dorries’ announcement. She added that the long-term future of the Blues is secure. This decision was only made after govt. were pleased that “Abramovich or other sanctioned individuals” would not benefit from the buyout.
Raising the faithful’s hopes of success higher at Stamford Bridge, is a claim made that the soon-to-be new owner was willing “to do anything” to ensure he became the new CFC chief. Apparently the American businessman was “utterly enthused by the spectacle and atmosphere” when he visited the stadium, despite a mixed bag of results during spectating. Another aspect of the Boehly group’s aspirations for Chelsea shall further buoy the support. Supposedly, a main desire of the 48-year-old is to ensure that the gap which exist between the Blues, Manchester City and Liverpool begins to close.
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea transfer budget revealed and who may be signed
However, ensuring the gulf – I believe the difference between the three teams isn’t quite as significant as some suggest, it is more depth than direct quality – lessens will cost a lot of money. Thankfully the fresh ownership intends to hand Thomas Tuchel a war chest in order to do just that.
There has been concern raised by certain media members and fans that the beloved German boss could follow Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen out of the Bridge. Yet these transfer funds seems to be the assurance that the former Paris Saint-Germain head coach longed for. To be fair to the latter, he has work to do, is a winner, and should be backed to do his job!
Everything about this trade felt right, especially witnessing Boehly at the stadium with real, visceral and visible emotions over the games he watched – as we all experience. At a guess, the upcoming period might well be as prosperous as the almost 20 years the previous administration became under the Russian.
With regard to the touted amount that Tuchel will receive to rebuild as opposed to improve, in his words, it is £200million just for this summer. Unfortunately that does only reinforce a squad on the echelon the Blues compete at. I mean, Brazilian superstar Neymar alone cost PSG that figure almost five years ago. Though that move was a momentous as well as monumental switch. Let’s hope the cheaper Erling Haaland to City example isn’t as impactful – yet that hope is probably merely wishful thinking.
Nevertheless, Chels’ fans should be encouraged by the ostensible input from prospect leaders. It is a statement of intent; although it must be spent wisely. Some of the players to be targeted are said to include: Jules Kounde, Josko Gvardiol, Raheem Sterling, Pau Torres, Jose Gimenez, Aurelien Tchouameni and Declan Rice.
